I agree that some of that money could definitely be reallocated, and that $47 mil for a parking garage is a little excessive. Definitely need to rebudget that.

However, I do not agree with your idea of aggressively pricing employee parking. Healthcare professionals work their assess off. They work long 12 hour shifts, making not nearly enough for what they’re actually worth most of the time. Many of those nurses, doctors, techs, they don’t want to screw around with public transportation after a physically, mentally, and emotionally exhausting day. Your idea of aggressively pricing parking for a demographic that is already overworked and underpaid seems punitive and grossly unfair to people who do nothing but give of themselves and their skills.

Rather than such a financially punitive approach, how about offer positive incentives. Hospitals could give additional benefits or stipends for individuals who carpool or choose to use public transportation. I believe those things will be much more fruitful than cornering healthcare professionals into a decision that costs them more money they don’t have.

All this bs about “medical patients will get priority” but in reality it’s “make as much money as possible once we go rec and…oh wait…what does giving priority to medical even mean?”

Sorry but if you don’t have separate markets and instead just jam rec and med markets all together you cannot promise we will get priority on any products. Therefore you cannot promise patients their medication.

So, so disappointed in the CT roll out. Glad I moved to VT, but realizing my CT card has become more and more obsolete.

A full grown man in a position of power should not be going after a 14 y/o girl and calling her voyeuristic because she chooses to use the restroom/locker room with which she identifies.

Not sure about you, but I don’t know many full grown men who bully minors about their gender and journey of self discovery/personhood. And the ones I do know can most certainly be described as bigoted.

Actually tells a lot. If you’re selling your home to move to VT that means you’ll have the income to pay for rent. If you’re looking at buying, be prepared to pay for it since NYC second-homers have driven up housing prices since the panarona. There’s many artsy spaces and places to set up studios closer to Burlington, but you’ll be competing not just with the NYC snow birds, but also the UVM students who aren’t housed through the uni after sophomore year. Good luck, and I hope you find something you’re looking for!

Try Farmers and Foragers. They’re a food truck named best in VT, but have also set up a permanent location by the marina at the waterfront. Really wonderful to see the sun set over dinner, and their menu offerings are based on what fresh local ingredients they can get. At one point this past summer they were able to get oysters from somewhere in MA famous for their oysters (not sure where, not a fan of oysters).

Not sure if this is fitting what you’re looking for, but I hope it helps!

*Edit: the Burlington waterfront!
