I lived across the street from Chimborazo for a little bit. The key is just to not be obnoxious or flagrant about it. Saw plenty of picnics with wine and beer, had a few of my own and never had an issue. As long as you're not walking around with open containers or leaving trash around I doubt anyone would even notice tbh.

Heck, Garnett's sells picnic lunches, including wine, for people to take across the street to Meadow park. I doubt it's high on RPD's list of concerns.

Yes, according to the governor's page Sb1515 was signed. Full text can be found here.

What I enjoy is that Virginia now explicitly defines Sadomasochistic Abuse: "actual or explicitly simulated flagellation or torture by or upon a person who is nude or clad in undergarments, a mask or bizarre costume, or the condition of being fettered, bound or otherwise physically restrained on the part of one so clothed."

Veto 1 makes sense to me. I'd be pretty livid if I came home to a utility truck in my driveway or yard with no explanation or anyone around clearly working on something, doubly so if it were left there for days at a time.

Veto 2, no comment because it seems like a lot of procedural HR stuff that makes my brain want to turn off.

Veto 3 I'm not entirely sure about. I agree that lots of vehicles have exhausts and sound systems that are WAY too loud. It sounds like the veto was because the House Bill was specifically about defective exhausts, where as the Senate Bill was more broad about noise? I'd have to read into this one more, but anything that helps curtail unnecessary noise is generally a good thing in my book.

Booked in advance its WAY cheaper than gas + parking. Tickets for off-peak/ non-commuting hours are maybe $20-30 round trip if you book even a few weeks ahead. Day-of it'll depend on how sold the train is, but the most expensive ticket I've paid was maybe $60, which is still worth it to not deal with the drive.

If you're talking about Brown's I've generally had very good service there without being upsold, which is pretty uncommon for dealers. That said, it's absolutely not true that the rotors MUST be replaced with the pads - pads wear out much faster than rotors.

However, given your car is 8-9 years old if the rotors have not been changed before it is definitely possible they are close to end of life and worth changing now. It can't hurt to get a second opinion from another shop.

Jasper, and Grandstaff & Stein are all that come to mind.

The folks who own The Jasper are opening another place in Church Hill called The Emerald Lounge sometime this year.

Agreed! After 2020 I was not in the worst place mentally, but clearly being cooped up for a year had done me no favors. I started going for a 15-20 minute walk during lunch every day and the difference in mood was noticeable after just a week or two.

Yeah, the location is more what I would expect from a bar back in VA Beach or something - tucked away into a random shopping center. Benefit of the doubt though, I assume restaurant/ bar space is at a premium in the city and it's a risky business to begin with.

Dang, you aint kidding - Verdant Lady is in a really out of the way spot. Might give it a go though just for the heck of it.

Woke up, showered, put on nice clean clothes, made tea and signed into work.

Manager messages me "Hey, aren't you off today?"

So now I'm wide awake with no idea what to do with myself.

Turned on the baseboard heater in the kitchen for the first time.... ever, but only because most of the water lines in the house are in the crawlspace under there. Was debating about chancing it, but the electric bill for a few days of extra heating is far cheaper than potential plumbers bill should anything happen.

Dunno how many hardcore baseball/ squirrels fans we have in here, but some bad news coming out of the MLB Rule 5 draft last night. A total of 9 Squirrels players were picked up by other teams in the league last night, which is a huge blow after the season they had last year. Happy for the guys that they now get a bigger opportunity to play in the big leagues, but I'm worried what it means for the team's performance in the next few years. Keeping the team performing reasonably well is pretty key to keeping support for the diamond district and new ballpark going.
