I’ve given up watching it, but I did wonder if they were going to reveal something similar to the Hitchhikers plot line where the most useless to society where all bundled up on a colony ship and sent off world.

I’m going to have to watch it again, but I thought it was Strange’s reckless use of the Darkhold in the other realities which destroyed them, but in our universe he was just trying to stop Maximoff from stealing Chavez dimension jump capabilities. The Illuminati thought Strange was the biggest threat rather than Maximoff. In our reality Maximoff was up to no good and was a rising threat, but I don’t remember her actually putting our reality in jeopardy.

My opinion on that was that the single hero shows were focused on smaller stakes that only needed one hero (+ sidekicks) to deal with. The team ups (a la Avengers) needed a world threatening enemy or situation to drive a need for the team to assemble. If Iron Man or Spider-Man could deal with it, then why bother?
The latest Doctor Strange movie was more like the earlier movies - it was a smaller threat that only really needed the involvement of Dr Strange and his colleagues.

I was amused to see the next season of a show I was watching appear to be available on the app, but had non-responsive episodes. I realised after a few minutes of clicking them and waiting for something to happen that they must be placeholders for episodes that Prime has the license for elsewhere but not here.

By which you mean it is easy to legislate a ban and quite another thing to enforce a ban?

Are you sure that’s not just your opinion? I’m pretty sure there are a lot of people out there that would be offended by comedic actors dressing up as Asian people, black people or Indian people for its comedic value, regardless of any U.S. moral values they may have been exposed to.
As I say, I (with all the sensibilities of a middle aged white man) was rather surprised they went ahead and produced “come fly with me” when they did. I was not surprised at the level of criticism it received! I wondered if maybe they were trying to rise above accusations of racist intent by creating fantastic characters, but the show was really rather banal.

I agree with your sentiment that we shouldn’t worry about the US’s morals when it comes to entertainment. I also think it was obvious at the time that painting yourself to look like another race was problematic at best.

I don't really understand how that was considered acceptable even at the time they produced it.

That was overtaken by them saying they were going to take the human waste, extract all the useful minerals and salts from it and then throw away the useless urea. I felt like somebody on the writing team must know science enough to troll the viewers with bait like that.
