I think the police report is really another piece of the puzzle. Since he’s holding it in his hand, when the police come to take him away, they’ll see he’s wanted for assault (fighting w/doppelgänger, kidnapping: trying to take his wife and daughter away.

You don’t know that for sure. His son came back once. Dad might also. He could try bringing an unusual item back. We don’t know if his son willingly went back/was pulled or tricked/or went somewhere new if it’s a portal to a different world(s).

I’m not a vegetarian. Lol. I love a good hamburger! But, I do believe there will be a time (sooner rather than later), when we will stop mass production of meat, esp cows. I expect there will be “private”, underground (prob not literally!) production of cows for the very elite rich folks. I also truly believe there will be “water wars”. No one who has lived has ever seen it. So it could become visible when let in. No where does she say others have seen the creature impersonating their loved one/friends. Either they never live to tell, or they are afraid to. It’s unlikely that having her friend paralyzed on the floor is unique. If it has happened before, it’d be part of the legends (if anyone lives to tell the tale). So…..either Max is gone when she goes back or….she’ll be next and both will be gone before her parents return. IMHO, there’s a very good chance there’s more than one.

If the town found the bodies of the other murdered people, there’s no reason to assume his family is dead, since there are no bodies. You need to clear up the pet killing charges. But, she’s an artist!!! We love to draw skulls. I’d love to have some human skulls! I have a variety of skulls decorating my living room. Plus, a hanging stand med school full skeleton (replica, I’m sad to say), next to the piano. I do have a real human spinal cord. It could be for ART!!! (I was also a graphic designer, hee hee)
