There's a saying (can't remember by whom) that conquerors are like cannonballs in that they need to keep barreling forward. The moment they come to a halt, they're finished.
The Axis powers wouldn't have stopped. Japan would've continued trying to chomp away at China and eventually turned to India and Germany would've directed its attentions to Africa and the Middle East.

This paired with Russian incompetence is an even bigger catastrophe waiting to happen. Jesus. I need a drink.

Early Late-modern period shipwreck is more appropriate.
Probably a translation error.

Reply to Louisiana voters rejected an antislavery ballot measure. The reasons are complicated by Rjn-7256
>Do you support an amendment to prohibit the use of involuntary servitude except as it applies to the otherwise lawful administration of criminal justice? (Amends Article I, Section 3)
In simpler terms, "Do you support ending slavery except in situations where slavery's used as a legal punishment in criminal justice"?
It's just the 13th Amendment on a state level.
But this is so weird. The NPR article says ballot measures in states like Colorado passed that removed the prison labour exception, but aren't such changes technically unconstitutional? Not that many people would go to court over this.
Well...maybe private prison operators.

Look at that crackly crust.
Jollibee deep fries their mango pies, too, and the texture is similar to McDonald's old fried pies.

Names carry a lot of cachet regardless. Here's an article on how much influence French nobility still wield even though they technically have little legal standing in France:

Multiple revolutions, but France let the nobles keep their titles without the degree of power and influence they had before. In theory anyway.

"Only Murders" is the most absurdly entertaining show on my must-watch list. I still look up my favorite bits from S1 and S2 on YouTube. I can't wait for S3 to premier.
