You'd have to become friendly with mayor BMS to get the job, tho. That's the real criteria.

Agreed. The other person is probably thinking of enforcing registration status or speeding/illegal turns on President Street or Boston St/Fort Ave type places.
Lol at some auxiliary officer doing that job in the rest of the city. The city would be paying a lot of claims for assault.

CEO of Visit Baltimore was promoted by Scott when he was on the council and retained in the position by him as council pres and now as mayor.

Stuff like this is why it's infuriating to long time residents when Brandon says things like "wE gOTta dO BeTTer yAll"

People in the sub have aggressively defended Santelises (city schools CEO) and the city council in the past week.
It's the strangest thing. It's like a reflex to criticism. People think it's "anti city" to point out that these ppl suck at their jobs and Baltimore deserves better. They said "if you don't pay 400k, no one will want to be schools CEO", despite people in the same that pointing out city schools is like the 5th biggest school district in the state and top 5 performers like Howard, Carroll, and Harford pay their school superintendents half of what Santelises makes.
You're simple not allowed to criticize city leadership. And that's part of the culture that holds Baltimore back.

The MBE and WBE qualifications are abused anyway, leading to absurd results. One of the biggest contractors in the city is M. Luis contractors. They do paving, concrete, etc.
They identify as Portugese. And the father of the business into the daughters name. They are one of the biggest, of not THE biggest, contractors in Baltimore City.
Lots of contractors who do good work in surrounding counties won't bid on city work because they know they won't get it, they'll have to deal with the MBE/WBE giveaways, or payment will be delayed by months or years after the work is finished.

They're doing a great job, so i certainly hope they get a nice pension after 2 terms. We shouldn't want them to have to get other jobs at any point

It's basically city policy not to prosecute or punish anyone for stealing (it's a "nonviolent" property crime), so are you surprised?
Even if they track some of the cat thieves down, you really think they're going to have money to pay fines? You really think the city is going to spend money to prosecute or incarcerate them?
Also, even if they hold things for 3 days... you realize that some more organized cat thief groups will just hold onto the cats for a month or two before scrapping them, right? Or they will scrap them in other jurisdictions entirely (western PA, small counties in VA, etc).
Because there's so little risk if you're actually caught, this will not stop anytime soon. But it's also worth noting that there is not a cat theft epidemic in areas that have active law enforcement (Harford, Carroll, etc).

If you're coming from the east side of Baltimore, aren't there still squeegee corners up and down President Street and probably Baltimore St/Lombard/Pratt as well?
I haven't been recently, but President Street did use to be a pain with aggressive ones.

I agree -- I'd also add that the local population is not the target demo for Rusty Scupper. It's clearly aimed at special occasions, travelers who don't want to eat at the hotel, and tourists/visitors.
The people pointing out "I can get better seafood at ten other places in Baltimore" are missing the point.

While the food is expensive, you're paying for the location/views.
That being said, if you're going to go there, at least go when you can actually enjoy the view, as opposed to super-busy nights when you won't get the window tables.

A LCS that was commissioned in May 2022. It was in Annapolis at USNA for a couple months between trainings. Apparently now in Inner Harbor for a while.

They use Fiverr for designers but the CEO is friends with Mayor BMS so it wouldn't matter.
