I understand that.
Driving was one of the more enjoyable gigs I've done so far.
I hope things clear up soon so things are better.

I used to drive as well, and I've heard that from a variety of drivers. That sucks. 😔

I went to school with many people who thought like this, because this is what they were shown/taught their entire life.
In fact, I still get 50+ year olds who ask me this same question, and they live 10 miles away.
It's a limited sight thing, and it comes from a mind that doesn't understand nor has the experience/insight.
It's a fair question assuming that they don't have the same experience or background as us.

Because of the city? Traffic? Your job? Just enjoy being home more? 😁

And talk as if Baltimore is their city.

I agree with them.
I've ridden my bike and walked the streets in Baltimore for years, from Fells to Mt. Washington and around, day and nights without issues.
Where are you working that has got you so afraid?

You all are jaded.
I've been walking/riding/using transit in the city for years, at all times of day and night, and I've never had an issue.
I've had more friendly and helpful interactions in the city than I have had in the "safer" parts of the city and the county.

I wouldn't say it's a good question, but it is a fair question.
Someone who doesn't know the territory is learning boundaries, even if their perspective is from a bubble of some sort.
Do you assume all peppers are hot? Or mild? All restaurants sell good food? Bad food? Would you ask how the traffic is, or just assume it's shitty/blissful everywhere?

Nope, but it's hard to actually find the mental and emotional space and empathy to take the time and effort to act on those considerations

We haven't had rolling blackouts or power outages, but we have had boil water advisories, and we get hit with the flooding and sink holes which, literally, washes our streets away.

This may be a bit of a tangent, but various parts of the city have started small programs to teach kids science, mechanical, and engineering skills based on dirt bike usage:

Though I agree with you (and Baltimore has tons tons tons more going for it as well such as arts, music, science, medicine, ports and trains), from my perspective, a lot of the denizens of the city, and the surrounding counties, are opposed to their use.
