RIP Lance Kerwin. I saw his name and the announcement and realized that 45 years ago I watched and loved his show, James at 16.
Time really does fly.

sorry, I may have been confusing. Bad Brains and Suicidal are mainly punk bands but play many funky metal songs.

Yes, Faith No More is exactly what you are looking for. The Real Thing is a perfect album. You may be referring to Funk Metal which came out around that time (early 90's).
Fishbone, Living Color, Primus, Bad Brains (most songs are punk but some are funk metal), Suicidal Tendencies (skater punk with funk songs), Infectious Grooves.
Personally one of my favorite genres of the late 80's early 90's.

Through their music history they have always produced solid albums. They have stayed true to themselves and done it always their own way. A great band.

Reply to Do people nowadays still realize how relevant bands like Limp Bizkit and Papa Roach were like in ~2000!? by realfli
Remember that music goes through changes, some last years, some last a short time. What was relevant in the 70's like rock bands such as Zeppelin, Sabbath, Stones and Kiss changed to the 80's where rock bands like Priest, Maiden, Halen and Leppard, and on and on. Music is always going through changes and there are people now that have never heard of the 8 bands I listed and they were the greatest bands on earth during the 70's and 80's.
