I had not known about this. Black panthers and black squirrels are common examples of this. This page has examples of different species. The guinea pig is pretty cool.

I use the cab video in chemistry class when we talk about reaction rates. Airborne powders are almost as fast in their reaction rates as gases because of the huge surface area. We think of factory explosions like this as being a nineteenth century thing. That this was recent is really jarring.

I lived through the seventies and forgot that they had seven members. I assumed they could only spell four letter words. I had to look it up in their wikipedia article which also turns out to have this awesome bit:
With record sales soaring, Morali and Willis saw the need to create a permanent group. They took out an ad in a theatre trade paper which read: "Macho Types Wanted: Must Dance And Have A Moustache."

There were several 1970’s shows that used marginalized characters in an attempt to be inclusive or at least different. Sanford and Son, Chico and the Man, and Welcome Back Kotter. If you compare them to Family Matters, or Head if the Class, or George Lopez, we really sanitized our inclusivity. Basically, everybody had to live like the Silver Spoons kid and race was a very special episode.

All it needed was the shift knob to be in the shape of a fist.
I remember seeing those as a kid and thinking "Wow!". Now, I see the picture and just think "Ow!".
