Same as Philadelphia. Our City is even more segregated by most metrics.

It's actually worse if we just look at the City. Instead of #13 we are #2 most segregated in the country between black and white only behind Chicago.. This is the Inky so hopefully they are an acceptable source to quote the Census data for you.

Our metro area is actually more segregated than Boston.

The proposed 3 days a month is a lot, like 13-15% of working days. Why not just give everyone more sick days instead of telling managers they may get 13%-15% less working time from women they hire.

Mini golf is definitely not going to be there, they pulled out. Only confirmed tenant right now is a daycare, which I'm actually pretty excited about with a newborn.

Yeah, I've had to quit ordering takeout because I never knew what I was going to get. They also reduced the size of the non-Chicago style pizzas massively at some point. Royal is a great recommendation, I love that place.

Hook and Master has a tiki themed bar.

At least some of them are using union labor. I know the Clay Studio used union and Ray Philadelphia a couple blocks up from this I'm pretty sure is too.

You are correct today. But the border of NoLibs was historically the Cohocksink Creek. https://diggingi95.com/northern-liberties/

Reading "The Fires of Philadelphia" right now about the Nativist riots just before the Consolidation Act. It includes historic maps and north of Girard (then Franklin St) at 3rd , where the Olde Kensington Pavilion is, was 100% in the Kensington District. NoLibs didn't extend north of Girard/Franklin until 5th St and doesn't at all today.

Yeah, the Olde Kensington Pavilion for Section 8 senior housing built in 1986 must have just picked that name out of thin air to fancy up the place./s Olde Kensington has been distinguished from the rest of Kensington for a long time. The OG Kensington District was only what is now Olde Kensington south of Cecil and Fishtown/East Kensington. Everything else was a later addition. Using Olde or South could be up for debate but it's just stupid to argue it shouldn't be and isn't distinguished from just Kensington.

I get a kick out of the NIMBY comments on the Instagram posts related to this. My favorite is: "It's a shame the design makes no consideration for views from lower American." Lol, are they supposed to make it fully transparent or super short just so you can see the church spires on your walk at that particular location?

Technically that was only true prior to 1854 and even then there were distinct neighborhoods in Kensington.

Technically there is no technical definition of either neighborhood.

There's been nothing in any of the news stories about that spill indicating it caused the smell. The spill site was to the east of us and the prevailing winds would have taken it to NJ. The smell was definitely something funky but in all likelihood came from the west. My guess is just the normal terrible pollution from the Midwest but we got a better smell of it because of an inversion.

That's relatively tiny. Wouldn't have caused this widespread of a smell.

Lol, your old man school that you walked uphill in the snow both ways to didn't serve you very well if you think we get H1-Bs for any reason other than educated foreign workers being cheaper than US workers.

One of the most successful recording artists of all time recently blamed many ills on "the Jews" and dined with a former President. Unfortunately, it's still pretty common.

It's not that cool of an attraction, but it does have a ton of historic significance other than being old.
