Lol thanks so much for your tips! The plan is to make the room feel like a jungle. Looks like I'm going on a home improvement adventure this weekend.

Hijacking your comment to ask additional questions: What's the minimum amount of plants needed to make a bedroom feel amazing? Five? 10? What plant stands, etc would you get for a small rental space?

Bagged trash raw-dogging the sidewalk is the worst though, cause raccoons and squirrels dig holes into them and then garbage gets onto the street. Cans are better, even though they get thrown around..

..Wow why didn't I think of this? I have some zip ties that I can use. Thanks!
EDIT: Fuck the lid isn't tie-able, I'll have to drill holes

Lol every week without fail, the men use my recycling bin lid as a frisbee and it ends up across the street or down the hill or under a parked car thirty feet away. Tempted to just let my recycling get wet from the rain or blown away with the wind.

Rented a cheap $450 bedroom in a huge 6bd 2ba West Philly house, gorgeous architecture and amazing location. But it was old and drafty and utilities almost touched $150 per person in the summer/winter lol.. Now I'm super wary of unfinished basements and shoddy doors that lead to the backyard.

Insulation! Distance to groceries. Coffee shops/parks for when you need to get out of the house. How much trash is on your block on any given day. But most importantly, insulation.

Seconded, avoid the subway (the "el" aka the MFL line) if you can. But buses, trolleys, and Regional Rail are usually good and safe.

Kensington is largely isolated and not something you stumble upon, since there's really no reason for you to travel up there on a regular basis lol. Street View is your friend! You can definitely afford a nice apartment in a decent neighborhood on that salary.

Fairmount's great! It's got a river, parks, museums, and lots of walking space and groceries. Rittenhouse is cool too, but a lot more literal obstacles (for ex., small sidewalks, street solicitors, etc.) and imo more expensive.

Goth Night on NYE was amazing. Met lots of nice folks, controlled myself to one mixed drink and one small cup of free champagne, and just had a great time boogieing with my partner.

Had a work crisis last week that ate at me during the entire weekend. Luckily, things worked out and I get the feeling that my boss has a billion more pressing matters to think about than my mishap. Like how the higher-ups have finally deemed our workspace a biohazard and "may" have been the cause of getting our staff sick..
Waiting for the call from Halloween for when our rings are finished. The process has been such a joy, the owner is a very nice, straightforward guy with tons of interesting knowledge. Less than three weeks until the wedding!

Pork lard is pretty common to use in authentic Chinese food in place of oil or butter, makes it taste great! My mom (who worked in a Chinese bakery for years) always warned me not to eat too much dim sum or pastries since lard is heavily used in those.

Unit Su Vege is a boon for my partner who can't have authentic Chinese food because of all the lard. Also the food is just amazingly delicious and the staff are super friendly!

Last year we reverse trick-or-treated! We walked around the neighborhood and handed out candy to kids that we passed by.
