I’ve lived in the state my whole life and it’s definitely disheartening being young and wanting to buy a home in the state. I’m a new teacher and will struggle to live in the community I teach in. Most other young teachers I know all live with their parents still or are renting. I feel ya pal

I am in Wayne quite a bit for work. You are close to the city and can easily take the bus. Obviously close to Hoboken and Jersey City as well. Sussex has stokes state park and a few others that are nice for day trips. Bushkill falls isn’t too too far either. Wayne also has Packanack Lake which has nice walking. Nice restaurants and you are within driving distance of a lot of cities. Probably forgetting things too.

Yes, Passaic and Morris counties still pay well, but Sussex and Warren have paid like shit (even during the pandemic). Resource teachers end up having to cover for teachers who don’t have subs which is obviously bad for children who need their resource classes. Schools won’t find subs for less than $150 a day especially when districts like Dover pay $250 for full time subs.

I am a sub across a few districts. I feel bad declining teachers, but I’m always going to prioritize the higher paying districts over the others. Some of the schools are waiting on me getting the full-time cert as well. Some districts pay below $100 a day and don’t get subs. I’d love to go to other schools, but I have bills.

Yeah I pissed someone off at this roundabout a few days ago and it was my fault. I’m from Jersey and can’t think of any roundabouts in state. Hit this one and the gps didn’t tell me which lane to be in, just to take the third exit. Well, I cut off someone going for the first exit and got him upset. My fault Dodge Challenger guy I am sorry.
