I say the latter, as if done correctly I don't see any death there at all. It's down to the tech available 🤷♂️ Who knows what sort of advances future tech will entail, what directions it may take with similar end results.
Biological transference need not mean death as we know it, but there are so many unknowns re reality, the soul, afterlife/other dimensions or aspects of our own never mind the tech I mention (future tech is a nice term as we can't predict the future).
I'm agnostic about the whole thing but think we will eventually come to understand every aspect of reality if sufficiently advanced and after quite a while..
