This problem won't go away without alleviating poverty and sustained longterm investments in the hardest hit communities. As long as we're just willing to farm out the job of government to grieving parents, non-profits and an endless list of foundations, we'll get a new version of this every three years

This is EXACTLY why I hated working on Rebuild "community outreach"
Politicians overpromising "you'll get a new library and a new rec center!" when the reality was "new carpet and less asbestos"

Yes. It's where people used to try and sell me ferrets.

I feel like when they were all the rage there was always someone hawking them at intersections or bursting into chinese takeout joints with them

Never in my life as a Philadelphian has anyone ever tried to sell me a turtle at an intersection. Puppies, ferrets, weed and scalped tickets - but never turtles

Exactly. If you as an ex-elected want to be involved in debates like this, you need to be able to have some humble pie and expect that your choices might be criticized. It is not the place for you to relitigate your own record

I've gotten maps printed as blueprints at Staples, cost less than ten bucks.
Also this is making me want to connect with other local D&D nerds. I haven't had an in-person session since before covid

me and a friend had this same convo before she did a show in Nashville a few years ago. We skipped the tickets and she showed up, on time, and brought the house down.
Always regret not going

the ones I'd want to see more of (not exactly sure what they're called) but it almost seems like road paint with grit worked into. They had some on Castor ave for a while doing road work (unsure why they were removed)

Speed strips down the block. We've had multiple accidents this year, including one that sent a fire hydrant into a home.

years ago I called PGW because our water smelled weird. They sent a guy out and he spent a few minutes going "your water is fine, your water is fine" and when I told him to stop bullshitting and level with me he said sometimes they've got to put extra chemicals in the water to treat it and that's usually what any off-putting odors are.
Maybe he was bullshitting about that too but it solved the mystery for me

Most of them probably aren't valuable unless they are particularly old or are the the first appearances of specific characters. You'd have better luck just writing up a list and hitting the back issue sites/ebay
