Please bear in mind that you can only drive up to the Seiser Alm very early in the morning (I believe 9 am) or very late (after maybe 5pm), then the road is closed for private traffic. I‘m not sure about the times, but it’s something around that. Also you can only drive to Compatsch and have to walk or bike from there, if you don’t have a hotel up on the seiser alm.

My favorite is to drive up before sunrise, walk to a nice viewpoint and enjoy sunrise there. Then, after sunrise enjoy breakfast at one of the Almen/Malgas.

What are you looking for? How experienced are you as a hiker? Are you interested also in the history of the region? There is so much to see and do there for all levels of difficulties.

Today I watched people go apnoe diving in a frozen lake. They drilled holes into the thick ice and then dove from hole to hole. You can have an easy walk, but you can also do a multi day hike with via ferratas in 800m high vertical walls. You can walk around the tre cime, or you can climb to the summit. Just to give you a perspective of the options you have.

For landscape/nature/wildlife photographers it would be

  • workshops
  • magazine articles
  • books
  • sponsorships/paid reviews on social media
  • YouTube
  • finally some sell some photos

You can also make money with product photography (including real estate), industrial photography for publications of the client company, new born photography or selling photos to news agencies or newspapers.

I believe you are right, it is hard work to make a living.
