While I don't have the other cans, I'm on the koss side for the cost to fucking excellent sound ratio that the kph30i have. And you don't need an amp for them. $30 and you're done.
The kph40 is my next buy. Or the ktxpro. They use the ksc75 drivers, so I'm on the fence.
Anyways if I ever get something more powerful than my cx1993 then maybe I'll get the Hifiman's and hope the qc don't suck

These look tight as fuuuuck.
I gotta get me a pair of kph40's. I was gonna get me an open box Hifiman he400, but I think the kph40 would be the better buy.
Great job

That headphone is so cool looking, and comfy looking. I'd like to get but I'm afraid they'd just be a sidegrade to what I already have.
Anyways congrats on your new gear!

Well to my ears the main big difference is bass. However out of the 3, the kbear stellar are probably the brightest. And they're only like $3 or something.
Besides them, I've read the original Monks are bright. A pair I need to get.
Sorry I can't be of more help

Not sure if I'm gonna upgrade to the sr60x or the he400's. The he400's need alot of juice I heard and all I have is a cx1993 dongle. My current grados sing with that dongle, so I'll probably just stay with the grado sound.

I actually have the sr60's(no letter afterwards). So we both have some old cans.
Anyways thanks for your impressions. Looking forward to hearing my grados in a "new light".

Nice headphones. ;)
I know that grados don't need to be amped, but how does it sound with your stack? Did you notice any improvements?
I'm asking because I'm getting me an entry amp/dac and my grados will be the first headphones I plugged into it. Just wondering if I'm in for something like more spacious and detailed sound, or nothing at all.

I didn't know that Shure was still making new iem's. I've had the 215's for probably close to twenty years. They haven't aged well though.

I've had my shure se215's for about 20 years. They're $100 now and they were a $100 back then. They haven't aged well. Meaning there are waaaay better sounding iem's now for a fraction of the price.
You can get really great sounding iem's starting at $18. Have a search a around the sub and find out about all the recommended iem's. No need to go Blessing 2 for your first iem.
Have fun!

I might have to get me a pair. I don't have an amp/dac though. So that's an added expense.

Maybe some don't know how to use it. It can be a daunting task. If it weren't for wavelet and oratory's settings I would be kinda lost.

Reply to comment by si_ro_le_88 in Evening Listening with Koss KSC75 headphones. Easily best £24 I've ever spent. Paul Simon sounds fantastic. Wanting this exact sound but in some over head phones. Beyerdynamic maybe. by si_ro_le_88
I don't know if 'better' is the right word. The kph30i sounds different than the porta pros. Both sound great just in different ways. The porta pros are more mid and warm, or some say dark. The kph30i seem to be a bit more lively with more emphasis on the treble.
I can't pick one over the other. I think I love both equally. But the PP's definitely have the advantage over the kph30i when it comes to build quality. Both are extremely lightweight, but the plastic of the kph30i can get ya in trouble if you open them up extremely wide.
