Very good take. Reboots, franchises, cinematic universes, all symptoms of decaying mediums with less risk taking, less originality. More late-stage capitalistic.

I had completely forgot about this. It's a bit of an alien. I recall it being both daring and comfortable, two things i rate but not really great?

Honestly the CGI are fine. I watch older stuff and i'm not too into modern shows so you likely have a higher bar though. I think Fringe could have used with a less JJ-esque narrative, the latter season(s) are a bit all over the place compared to earlier ones, same as Lost.
