I lived in CO for 12 years - Denver is Warner and sunnier that you would think. I learned that #1 - I burn way too easy at altitude #2 - I need to be near water.
There’s usually a trade off with whatever you’re seeking.

Living in a drafty apartment raises your expenses significantly. I used to live in a very drafty apartment built in 1900 and paid 300 - 400 monthly for gas. Now I live in a small well insulated house and so far I’ve paid about 1200 for oil this winter.

I’d pick Sally’s over Peppe’s any day. Less of a wait.

My electric is the same because I switched companies. Oil is about double - $1100 so far. I’m glad it’s not too cold and my house is both energy efficient and small.

Beaches are still beautiful in winter. Check out Hammonasset in Madison or Silver Sands in Milford.

Yes I drove across the country twice and was literally shocked at how much NOTHING there is. But the land in those places also tends to be pretty flat and barren.

Honestly it’s simple supply and demand. Covid changed the way people are working, which cleared the way for people commuting into NYC every day to move farther out and work from home or go to the office a lot less.

Cafe Java on Elm is good too but they’re nice and won’t give you a dirty look.

Didn’t you ask about West Haven a couple of days ago? I’m the former Denver resident. East Haven is ok, if crime stats are all you’re interested in look at crimegrade.org. East Haven is about a 180 from Boulder culturally. And Tweed has a new airline causing lots of noise if you’re too close.

No Sally’s is great! A little out of the way from downtown. Also try Mamoun’s falafel on Howe St.

Hi, I lived in Denver for 12 years and now I live in Milford, not far from West Haven. I think the area you’re looking at is fine. Like all cities there are good parts and bad parts.

I know what you mean about not being close to anything. In Denver it was like… ok, other than the mountains (2 hour drive one way on weekends), where can you go? 2.5 hours to Cheyenne WY? 5 hours to Sante Fe NM? No thanks.
