Reply to [PM] Give me something out of the box, something abstract. It doesn't have to entirely make sense. I'd like to try to write an unreliable narrator, maybe? by Thunderingthought
[PT] Someone narrating how your life is going detail by detail. But slowly, you realize the life path you going for isn't what you want deep down. So you stop listening to the narrator. Then, the world slowly begins to change.

Two Sides of the Disco Ball
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You let out a soft sigh, staring at the pills of homework you have to do. Math, Social Studies, Psychology. It's a bit overwhelming, but you trying to get that perfect score.
You turn towards your computer, typing up some music for the work. You know you couldn't do this all alone without some music.
That's when your mind traces back to what you and your friend talk about this morning.
"Disco is one of the best ways to bring out your inner self, you should try it someday!"
You type up "Disco" on your computer before scrolling down a list of disco music. From Michael Jackson to Boney M, it was like an endless pile of music.
Finally, you found a video that mixes up all the disco music into one. Clicking play, you could instantly see the Lights fricking around the wallpaper.
You tap your foot to the rhyme while looking back at your paper. You felt ready enough to start your work. But then, you heard a little electric sound coming from the video.
The hair on the back of your skin stood up as you instantly look back at the video. It was still the flashy light wallpaper, but it felt a bit...good.
Slowly standing up, you begin to move your arms around. People are embarrassed by this, but you love it.
Your body slowly begins to move. One step, two steps, three steps. Then you realize, you were dancing to the music.
Deep down, you know you supposed to be doing your work. But this feeling of music reaches deep in your heart before those lane books did.
Your lips begin to move to the lyrics, your hips begin to shake and turn, your arms and legs start to move all over the bed. You even stood on your bed and begin dancing to the music.
You can put work to the side at the moment. Right now, you want to get your Groovy on.

It's Time to be Thankful
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Shut up!" I shouted, throwing the paper to the ground. I don't know what kind of face I am pulling right now on my mother. Hatred, Anger, Sadness, all three? More?
"You never understand me, you never try to!"
"What are you talking about? I always try to understand you!"
"Liar!"
Walking past her, I walked to the front door and open it. Without looking back, I slam the door shut.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"So, let me get this straight. Y'all are fighting because she was saying some stuff about you?"
"My mom just don't understand me, Ryan! Every time I would relax, she would get mad".
"Come on man, not on Thanksgiving," Ryan sighs, standing up. "Look, you can stay here and play video games with me. But at some point, you have to go back home to your mother".
"You think I want to right now?"
"Who knows, she's probably upset and crying right now," He shrugged, pulling out Civilization V. "So, shall we?"
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After a while of playing, we both got bored.
"Oh, it's getting late. We about to celebrate our Thanksgiving. You should go home".
I groaned. "Do I have to, man?"
"I want you and your mother to make up and experience true Thanksgiving".
"Which is?" I sarcastically asked.
"Being thankful that your mother alive, she was the only one who raise you after all. The least you could do is be thankful".
"You do got a point there, man," I sigh. "Sometimes, I just hate how much she put pressure on herself".
"And the son made it worst by yelling-"
"Shut up," I groaned, standing up. "Alright alright! I going to make thinks right".
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Opening the door, I could smell something good from the kitchen. It was my favorite food. Fried Chicken, Green Beans, Rice. Quickly running to the kitchen, I noticed that I was alone.
"..." I bit my lip. I want to celebrate Thanksgiving with my mom. I just yelled at her, and it was selfish of me. But I want to make things right.
"M-Mom!" I shouted.
Mother walk downstairs, hearing my voice. Her eyes were bloodshot, looks like she been crying for hours.
"M-Mom," My voice cracked. All the memories begin flooding to my mind. From my fifth birthday up to yesterday when she baked me a cake. And all I repaid her was those cruel words.
"You don't have to say it, dear. College is just stressful for you," She whispers, wiping down my tears.
I wrapped my arms around her, holding her close to me. "Mom, can we have a nice Thanksgiving?"
"Anything for you, sweetface".
A smile slowly begins to form on my face.
"Happy Thanksgiving, Mom".

The Sky
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Have you ever made a wish to the sky? That your selfless or maybe selfish wish will come true?
I've done it for many years. Each time, that wish becomes true.
The first wish I made was for my mother. My father thought it was nice to cheat on her with another female he met at a bar. He decided to tell me, thinking I wouldn't say anything since we close.
I was afraid, so I stare at the shining night sky, and pray. Pray that my mother finds out, and she will become happy.
The next day, she found out and they got a divorce. I stay with my mother, hoping it will heal her heart. But it didn't. The guilt and anger she felt from her husband cheating on her pains her heart. Even just looking at me pains her heart deep down.
So, I wish again at night. And my wish again came true. My mother suddenly healed from the pain.
That's when I begin to wonder, is the sky truly alive? Is the sky listening to every single one of our wishes?
The third time was around middle school. I notice a quiet person staring at the ground. A couple of bullies were mocking them, laughing at them, even going as far as making fun of their clothes. I felt pity for the victim. I wanted to help the victim, so I made a wish to the sky.
The next day, the bullies have a change of heart. They begin supporting them, even one of them going as far as having a crush on them. It's weird in my eyes, but I'm glad the bullying stop.
But most of all, I realize the sky is indeed alive, and it's listening to every single wish that I made. So, I begin wishing for good around the world. One by one, the world slowly begins to change for the better.
People begin accepting each other, the environment is becoming a livelier place, everything was just perfect.
Just like any other human, I begin aging. But I still continue to wish to the shining bright sky. But one day, I became so sick that I start visiting the hospital. I was so worried about other people's problems, that I forgot my own problem.
One visit became two, two became four, and four became forever. But still, I continue making wishes to the sky. Even going as far as wishing for this hospital to get better support and money from people.
Tonight, the sky was shining as always, but it was now different. The sky was calling for me, wanting me to come along with them.
So, I accepted with ease.

The Special Kid
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When I was a little boy, I could see people's aura. My mother told me I inherit this ability from my grandmother. We don't know why it happens to us, but it makes us "special".
Most would say it's a blessing, but I think it's a curse. Aura's show your true colors. You could be the sweetest person in the world, but I know you a fake person just by your aura.
Today was like any other for me. Just walking around town and seeing people's aura. They look like a cloud version of them. At first, I was scared. But I learn to ignore them.
"Let me rob this old woman"
My attention instantly turns to that sound. It was a person wearing a mask over their face. They were planning on robbing this old woman.
"As soon as she walks over to the street, let's push her off the road and grab that purse!"
Crap, is he actually going to do it? Thinking fast, I speed walk to the old lady.
"Hey, ma'am. Would you like my help?"
"Oh, thank you so much, sonny"
I could hear the robber aura cursing me out, but I don't care, I'm used to this. This happens every single day. I' m used of being "The Hero" at this point. I don't even think I deserve that title honestly.
I glance at the old lady aura. She seems happy, and not fake unlike the other auras.
"How about you stay at my house and I fix you something to eat, sonny?" She asked.
Her aqua change to loneliness. I didn't even need to know her backstory to tell what she's currently going through.
Without any hesitation, I nodded.

I'm in Love with my Childhood Friend?!
WPC: 675
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I could remember this day like yesterday. A poor little sad me, playing with a broken airplane that a couple of no lives decided to break. I was known as the sunshine kid, but they manage to darken it. I wouldn't mind the teasing and picking, but they went too far.
"Boom...boom..." I sadly put the airplane down on the grass, tears falling on the small roof.
"Umm, are you sad?" A voice causes me to look up. It was the same boy around my age, wearing the same summer shorts style I'm wearing. He reaches under his pocket and gives me a brand-new airplane.
My eyes quickly widened as I grab the airplane, hugging it tightly. "T-Thank you!" I said, looking at them.
"You're welcome. I'm Thomas!"
"Henry! Would you like to play with me?"
Their quickly nodded, sitting right next to me.
Since then, we both became best friends. We both knew at some point, it had to come to an end. Not our friendship though, but our little kiddy fun.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"You really have grown over the past couple of years, Thomas," I joked.
"You really think so? Be honest, how old do I look?" He asks, revealing his business suit he picked out. It was a normal black and white business suit, but he made sure to iron it extra good the day before.
"Age 20," I joked.
"I'm not talking about age here! Come on, man" He sighs. "Plus, we both promise to work together, so I'm doing this for you"
"Alright alright" I chuckle. "You look very handsome"
Thomas cheeks instantly turn rose red as he looks away, trying to hide his embarrassment.
"Thanks. I hope I get the job soon,"
"You will! Our boss is very nice" I grinned, wrapping my arms around him. "Now, I want to see that smile again. I miss it"
Thomas turns to me, their smile shore brightly, it made my heart flusher.
Both me and Thomas realize we have feelings for each other, but we both are guys. We did say if we continue having those feelings once we reach adulthood, we'd start going out. Obviously, we still have those feelings. It's now just the matter of who's going to confess first.
"Well, we're here!" I said, pointing to the huge building.
"It's huge" Thomas said, trying his best to control the anxious feeling.
"Hey, it's okay to be nervous," I said, gently holding his hand. "Just take deep breaths, walk in there, and demine an interview!" I joked. "But of course, I'm jo-"
Before I could finish though, Thomas immediately walks to the building.
"Wait, Thomas!" I shouted, running inside.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Yay, I got the job!" Thomas shouted, jumping up and down excitedly.
"Yeah, and you almost did the joke," I sigh, leaning back against my chair. "Well, you know what you doing right?"
Thomas nodded. "But, why a call-center?"
"Well, for now it's the best job I could deal with. Later on though, I do want to become something more serious. Like a nurse".
"I'm sure you'll get the money someday, Kev," He grinned stroking my hair.
My face slowly begins to feel warm as I lean against his touch.
"Sorry, I shouldn't do it at work" He quickly pulls his hand away, hiding his red face.
A chuckle escapes my lips. I want to tease him so bad, but I don't want to break my professional.
"You know, I couldn't help but reflect".
"Hm? On what?"
"When we were kids. We would always play around and have fun. Now, we both are adults, and we have to take life very serious".
That is something both me and Thomas reflected on heavy. Life was fun, but slowly, it became more stressful and even unfair to us. What's even more unfair, is that we both like each other, but can't say it.
"Hey, Thomas. How about we both go to dinner after work today," I said, hiding my red face. Even though life is unfair, I decided to take the first step.
"Sure!"
