Thanks for posting, OP. Well done documentary. The images of people on the bridge and the guy screaming to it look at the River and get to higher ground are daunting. Reminds me of the people on the beach in Thailand as the water receded just prior.

Seems like it’s not well made if a pin keeps breaking. That’s one of the features of BIFL products.

Nice! We keep ours on the counter, tucked in a corner. It gets regular use for muffins and pancakes/waffles, so taking it in and out of a cupboard would be a hassle for us, too. Here’s to another 40 years!

Have had ours about 35 years, only part I’ve ever replaced was a small gear on the pasta maker. If there were a Hall of Fame for BIFL products, I’d definitely nominate KitchenAid

There was a lot of conjecture about this before the takeover - that Musk was going to implement an subscription tier, and, as grifters have been so successful in the GOP lately, will easily take money out of their voters’ pockets. They won’t even see (or acknowledge) the irony - they’re being made to “pay” for the free speech they rail about.

Reply to What is it like for gay couples with kids in Vermont? by [deleted]
I have gay family members in VT. They love it and it seems VT is very gay friendly, notwithstanding rednecks scattered about, but there’s no state immune to ignorance and hate. What I like most about Vermonters’ attitude toward the LGBT community is that you wouldn’t even know it’s a thing, it’s “normal,” really. I see what you mean about what is happening in Florida, and the movement toward fascist ideologies is definitely troubling. I think you’d feel right at home in VT. On a separate note, covid brought people from NYC and CT to VT in droves, and property values are still nuts. Anything “affordable” (under $300k) is a probably a fixer upper. I know FL real estate is sky high as well, just thought I’d throw that in, lest you think it’s cheaper in VT
