If they're truly "good Christians", they should provide a better path to the restaurant but really it's the Richmond DOT's duty to provide better pedestrian infrastructure.

Oh wow, that's tragic. Didn't even make the news! West Broad west of Staples Mill is a massive stroad. I won't cross most intersections there due to lack of crosswalk.

>Willow Lawn Dr. & W Broad St.
There's not even a crosswalk on the East side across W Broad St at Willow Lawn Dr. and that's where the Pulse ends and passengers have to transfer for travel to destinations further west. I know theres one on the other side but seems like many people will risk it.

Eight Is Enough was my favorite show as a child and you're right the cast really did not go on to fame and fortune but latter series regular Macchio made quite a name for himself, I'd say.

Thank you for posting this. I had some harsh words for the intersection along Cox Road which is a deathtrap for pedestrians trying to cross the street with no crosswalk or light.

Reply to Living in RVA without a car by [deleted]
I live downtown without a car, the Pulse and the #5 bus serve most of my transit needs. I am fortunate enough to work within walking distance so I don't use the buses to get to anything too crucial. Whenever I have to leave city limits (Short Pump, airport) I use a rideshare service. Express GRTC buses are really only for people who live in the suburbs and work downtown, they only run during AM PM rush hours and then only in the direction to transport suburban office workers so that isn't really an option. An electric bike would certainly open your options!

What time are you riding? In the afternoon before 6ish, service is fairly frequent and I've never gotten "stuck" in Carytown after taking the bus. The only time I've Ubered home was when it was late and/or pouring rain.

Regular rider here. Definitely a crapshoot taking the bus. 5 to Carytown is somewhat reliable, the app will usually tell you if how far away it is. However every so often the supposed arrival time passes and the bus essentially vanishes. Super frustrating! Also: the app will revert to DELAY once it falls behind schedule. Okay that's not super helpful since I don't memorize bus schedules. I mean, it is 5 mins delayed? 20 mins? 40 mins? Always best to have a backup plan!

This perplexed me last year too. I'm pretty sure it's some kind of Scavenger Hunt, people huddled in groups, dressed flamboyantly, walking and mumbling while staring at screens.
