I have no problem removing duff tracks. I rip my CD’s to 320kbps, load them on the iPod and then give each song a rating while listening to them. All the tracks with one star get removed. There was one album by Elbow where I removed all the tracks but one - lol. Getting all my CD’s at thrift shops makes life easier.

Absolutely adore Francois Hardy - French is the nicest of all languages. Lola Beltran in Spanish is also good and some songs in Italian. Everything else, especially German - except for 99 Luftballon: no thanks.

Oh...and Llorando or Crying by Rebekah Del Rio in Spanish is out of this world and puts all other versions to shame.

There is no such thing as “catching up” as you say. There is music from 200 years ago - and before - that is as relevant as today’s music. Given there are dozens of tracks released each day you will never ‘catch up’. Best solution is trying pot luck. Go on YouTube and type in any genre you want, see what comes up and take your pick. Go to Wikipedia and look up ‘Music Genres’.

Right, that’s enough. I’m off to listen to Chicago Blues and then The Band.

You’ve just got to go for the “Cruisin’” albums. They are sooper-dooper brilliantly fantastic. They are from yesteryear and each are a radio station complete with jingles and ads and great music. I’ve still got most of the original vinyls which must be worth a fortune. Look it up on the web for the whole story. Think “American Graffiti” style. The album cover followed a theme for each year.

Turn the table upside down. Grab a few Al Jolson records and start singing along to them - very loud. Start with “Mammy”.

🎶Everything is lovely When you start to roam; The birds are singin', the day that you stray, But later, when you are further away, Things won't seem so lovely When you're all alone; Here's what you'll keep saying When you're far from home:

Mammy, Mammy, The sun shines east, the sun shines west, I know where the sun shines best Mammy, My little mammy.🎶

Don’t be surprised if she goes into therapy or hits you with a frying pan! Just tell her you’ve seen the error of your ways.

The Archie’s Greatest Hits, especially the extended version of Sugar, Sugar had such a profound semi-religious affect on my soul so much so I had to undergo expensive therapy. Part of the recovery was listening to George Harrison’s “All Things Must Pass.”

Randy Newman not just the songs but the humour and sarcasm. Also Dylan. In essence, someone who has the ability to write songs that are not all about love. Morrissey is another facts of life writer as well as some of Cohen. I’ve lost count of the CD’s I’ve trashed because all some ‘artists’ do is gush about love - it’s all been done before morons and it makes me puke! Sing about something we don’t know.
