Something that I’ve always noticed is the way other actors talk about him. If you watch actors talk about working with him or any of the Roundtable type things he’s on they revere him, I think they envy the chances that he’s able to take and how free he can be. Personally, big fan. Also this is as good a summary as you’ll ever see
I don’t think Hollywood does this in the sense of studios - but I do think that actors and their agents probably look at projects in this way. Like ‘let’s see how you do in Lucy and show the town you can do this type of role and you’re not just the pretty lil thing and then we can try and work with Marvel on being a superhero’ - Not that this is what ScarJo did, but taking your example
I worked at a cinema for my first job and have kept on the books and doing the occasional weekend shift there even tho now I have a corporate job. Sometimes they’re rough shifts, but worth it to just be able to walk into a cinema without paying on an off day.
