Highly recommend the book "Where's Mom Now That I Need Her?". Has tips on stocking a pantry, recipes, bicycle repair, mending clothes, and more.

Orvis makes some delightful lightweight pants. I guess they're technically hiking pants, but they're super comfy and don't have all the cargo pockets and extra zippers that some hiking pants have.
