Fortuitous timing! I got an email from Verizon this evening about their participation in the federal Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) which is designed to provide affordable phone service to those less fortunate who struggle to pay for services. It can help cover existing lines of service so if they qualify they would keep the service and phone they have now, just pay less. Details can be found at www.ACPbenefit.org.

Are they under contract to a town, city or county? If so, that government agency may be of some help as they are responsible for any damage their contractors cause while working on their behalf.

Also ask on r/realestate. You’ll get additional recommendations for how to go through the whole process of buying a home as a first time buyer, including some nuances for NH.

Great shot! We’ve had juvenile hawks perched on our bird feeders, essentially saying “come and get it!”

A bowl of vinegar with a few drops of dish detergent is a great trap for fruit flies. They’re attracted to the vinegar and the soap makes it so they can’t get out once they get in so they drown in the vinegar. Had an infestation in the kitchen and they were dead by the next day, having drowned in the vinegar.

Vets were the primary test subjects, probably due to the availability of medical records and well studied cause of their PTSD. I read about this more than a year ago but it was still in the test phase so it’s great to see it’s being used more widely. Hopefully more patients who could benefit from it from across society can get access.

A lesson from those of us who once lived in areas with hurricanes, next time fill the tub with water and use that water to flush the toilets. Great news on the loan of the generator by sonoftelfon works great and hope your power gets restored soon!
