This is correct. It is highly unlikely we'll ever see under 4 percent rates again in our lifetime. I was disappointed when I closed on my first house last year at 5 percent, until I realized historically that's still quite low. It wasn't uncommon to see 8 - 12 percent interest rates not too long ago.

Any that even are near the outer walls I would recommend running. In older New England homes with unfinished basements, there's a strong likelihood it's going to get very, very cold down there this weekend.

Gas has been better in recent weeks. Glad I converted over from oil a few months ago.

Run both hot and cold water to a trickle that night. I wouldn't wish a burst pipe on my enemies.

Yes it's a common fucking problem around here. People think they're being kind when in reality they're putting everyone at fucking risk. Can't stand that shit.

There were so many opportunities to not ruin it, and yet he prevailed. Grade A mega-boomer post, OP.

This. Just be aware op that diesel burns hotter than traditional heating oil. So while it's fine in a pinch, you wouldn't want to do it long term.

Seeing a lot of oil and propane on here. Does no one use natural gas? I have furnace with a gas conversion burner on it from Unitil so I never have to fill up any tanks.
