Interesting... 21,000 vs. 125,000. Thanks. (Another source to consider.)

If you like cities, live there.
Me, and many like me, view cities as nice to visit maybe twice in a decade, but we have no desire to live like that.

Technology will save us!
No need to panic, ditching fossil fuels sooner than we need to, wrecking economies and sending the world's poorest into even worse poverty.
It truly is a wealthy person's privilege to worry about climate change more so than the next meal...

Zero emissions if and only if you draw a box around the vehicle and say, okay, from this point forward, zero emissions, from this vehicle.
Ignoring the fossil fuels needed:
- To generate its electricity
- To drive the massive mining vehicles needed for batteries and steel
- To fuel the ships bringing minerals and batteries from China
- For all the plastic components
- For all the steel components
If you do some digging you'll learn that until a EV reaches 125,000 miles or so, its carbon footprint is no different than a Dodge Ram 2500.
But here's the rub. Most EVs will need a new battery before then, resulting in even more of a carbon footprint.
EVs are silly. They're pure hype.
Hybrids are what the world needs. They actually have a lower footprint than that Dodge Ram.
But go on pushing this error.

I've lost all interest in theatres.
My screens and sound systems in my house are phenomenal.
I can enjoy any food or drink I like and pause if desired.
Theatres? They're for live musicals and the like.
If it's a movie? I'm staying home.

Reply to Could you train a local AI chatbot (like the local GTP 3 that you can download and train) on things like building codes to assist tradesmen? by jdog1067
Simple to do.
Will take some hours training it, for certain, but natural language processing can absorb the rules and trainers can aid with interpretation and use.

I'm glad you said "for a while."
It'll take a while...
But over time, robotic-fueled, prefab-manufactured as well as on site "printing" of foundations, wiring, and plumbing will eventually take care of skilled work as well.
(Robots are already executing surgery.)

I don't believe we're going to need a fraction of what we have now.
Same thing for writers. Machine written articles are getting awfully good.

Watch out for the claymores!
(I'm kidding about the claymores. No, we use tin cans on trip wire and punji stick pits.)

The top 10-20% in any field will become hyper-efficient--priceless!
The others will need OBI.

AI will decimate...no, worse than that...halve the legal profession.
Repetitive tasks are its forte.

I agree with robotics. There are going to be a lot more of those needing repair.
Coding? I don't know about that... Low-code / no-code is growing like weeds.

Was it obvious that Covid was developed in a lab?
Judaism holds out a principle: Truth is truth.
The ONLY way truth can have any chance of being discovered is through challenge.
So-called "settled" science changes daily.
But what if you put scientists in place to determine truth who don't know the truth? Who don't understand new learnings? Who defend their existing beliefs--their own orthodoxy? Or like Google, Facebook, or Twitter, your "misinformation" gatekeepers don't have any qualifications in the fields where they're in charge?
In short: Who gets to decide the truth?
It's foolish to believe anyone can be placed in charge of "obvious" truth.
Dangerous business...

Basic stuff 2 (when Basic 1 got too busy)
Business 1 (for VITAL business stuff--like data feeds and subscriptions)
Business 2 (for business websites like LinkedIn, WSJ, etc.)

AI will NOT make investing more profitable. Ultimately, it will make "alpha" nearly impossible to find.
Remember how you used to be able to pick stocks and outperform the market? Once everyone adopts the same strategies, alpha disappears.
