It gets even more fun when you look at materials like Ice or Steel, which have like a dozen solid phases each.

It sounds extremely convenient to me, to be able to model bulk properties like conductance instead of modeling individual atoms.

tbh, it doesn't sound like the worst way of processing the trauma of getting robbed.

People do things for a reason, but, if you turn on the news, you'll see that a lot of the reasons are really stupid.

That's really only true if you're trying to get out from under your lease.

The city actually has a downward population trend. Maybe Towson should take responsibility for their own mistakes, instead of trying to find someone to blame?

Those cities also have functioning police dpeartments, better education, and decent transit. We should try to do the same here.
But also, Baltimore has less than half a million people. We can't achieve the sorts of economies of scale that Tokyo can.

They did have some kind of paradigm. it may not have been as complex or complete as our modern study of microbiology, but it would have at least been isomorphic to the truth.
In much the same way, our modern understanding of microbiology will seem woefully inadequate to the people of the future.

Pure observation. Even if you don't have a microscope to see the bacteria, you can see(and smell) their work.

When I took thermo in my country, we refered to it the other way around. Steam is the invisible gas phase, "vapor" is the white cloud of liquid droplets.

What comes out of the towers, if it's visible, is water droplets suspended in air. Steam is clear in air, but it partially condenses into visible clouds of droplets if it cools down too much.
