Oh ya, pitch black really is showing its age, but in a way its simplicity helps to build the atmosphere better. It's a bunch of stranded travelers on a desolate world, going fantastical would have killed the bleak tone of the movie.

Yup. I know people are all different and trust can be a funny thing, but handle it like an adult and don't sit there and assume the worst without even checking on it. At best they are saved by having an understanding partner like here, at worst they get into a massive fight and op ends up torpedoing a relationship because they couldn't handle a simple like an adult.

Snooping through the phone is a bit rough in my opinion, but immediately going off on the boyfriend, assuming the worst is an even bigger issue. If they lack the trust to actually talk about this stuff or broach the topic with more tact then it shows just much more time they need, or at the very least how much of a trust issue op has.

In the series, the premise is that an alien. Oalition sends an envoy to earth to help prepare them to sidestep destruction by an extrgalactic extinction event. Part of this is the sharing of advanced technology so you could go from modern day tech to gauss weapons, space navies, and 15' combat robots with human integrated controls. So they probably could easilly bullshit an excuse up for the vacuum.

There's a sci-fi book series, the ember war saga, that actually takes this into account. In the book, when entering combat conditions, they will actually suck all the oxygen in the ship into holding tanks so a hit won't cause explosive decompression and the issue of fires for damage control tapers off. Seems obvious to a point, makes you wonder the viability of the strategy irl.

Never seen bad taste, but dear God is dead alive phenomenal. The number of quotable lines and stupid out of context scenes alone make it a must watch, but add in the gratuitous practical effects....well worth it to watch it.

And Peter Jackson, before showing us the glory of middle earth, made a film about an aussie slaying zombified townsfolk infected by a deep jungle rat mokey thing.

It's amazing how strange the previous works of many celebrated artists usually end up being.
