Maybe we’re agreeing on the same premise here. Because I definitely don’t think it should just be a decision made lightly. There are definitely downsides to gambling. Some people can’t handle it. Some shitheads leave their kids in the car for hours at a time. There are risks. Those risks can be mitigated through those programs with funds raised by gambling taxes. There should be oversight and regulation. But at the end of the day, the government shouldn’t be the ones telling people that they can or can’t gamble. People should be able to make their own decisions at the end of the day, but for the few that can’t handle it, there should be programs in place to help them.

But you understand that people still gamble where it’s illegal right? It’s 2023. It’s very easy to illegally do it online. When it’s legal, we can put programs in place like 1-800-gambler to assist those that have trouble controlling themselves. When it’s illegal, it’s shady and there is no oversight. Gambling addiction is very real, but the legality of it doesn’t stop anybody from gambling. It certainly makes it more accessible, but it doesn’t stop anything.

Totally agree. I need the government to tell me if gambling, prostitution, abortion, guns, being gay/trans, or drugs are ok. If they say it’s legal, I will then fully participate. If they say it’s illegal, I’ll simply say no thank you. The government serves as my moral campus and their opinions should be forced onto me so I don’t have to make decisions for myself.

I actually don’t like that idea. I’m much more for a Tuesday holiday. On a general Tuesday, most people just work. Some people have a hard time getting off work to vote, but the same people that have a hard time finding time during the 13 hour window of 7 am-8 pm probably also work on Saturdays. Any M-F 9-5 is able to get out and vote during those hours.

If Election Day was on Saturday, a lot of people would have other normal weekend plans that could cause them to not be around on a Saturday. A lot of people would prioritize those plans over voting and won’t schedule around Election Day. Where as Tuesday, most people are home because it’s a work day and they just need to stop by at some point during the day if possible, or vote by mail.

Making that Tuesday a holiday is a much better way to go about it then changing it to a Saturday.

Definitely not Giselle. What qualifications does she have other than liberal dorks overhyping her? I voted for John his policies make him far and away the best person for the job. People like Giselle because she’s a supportive wife and mother. Not because she would make a great senator.

John isn’t going to resign either. He’s recovering from a stroke, not dying.

I agree with all of that. What I’m saying is this little thing he said is something that could easily be something he was just wrong about isn’t necessarily lying. It’s very reasonable to think he didn’t know the PAC was at all associated with the railway. Knowing all of your campaign finances off the top your head is definitely a stretch, but it’s not really worth attacking a guy over. Especially when you’re talking about one of the worst politicians in recent memory. There are so many things to get this guy on. Why is this something to write an article about?

Sure. But again, weird thing to use as a “gotcha!” You could just look at what he campaigns on and quote it directly and it’ll be way better than this one. You can do this with literally anybody. Politician or not. To assume every single thing they a person is going to be correct is insane. People are wrong at times.

His quote was "I know my own finances. I didn't get any money from that train network."

And he received $1,000 from Norfolk Southern’s political action committee, the Good Government Fund.

There’s a very real chance that he didn’t lie and was just wrong. He may not have known that the Good Government Fund is associated with Norfolk Southern.

There are a million real things to criticize him for. He’s a giant piece of shit. I don’t necessarily think this is one of them.

Get a full night of sleep. Sticking to a rigid sleep schedule will help a lot with that. Even on days off, don’t stay up late and sleep in. If you want extra sleep, go to bed earlier. Don’t sleep in later.

But also, faking it works with the happier and upbeat part. I remember in high school, most days I’d be tired when I was going in and not ready for the day. I would look at myself in the mirror, fake a smile, and say “todays going to be a great day!” I would actually feel a lot better afterwards and go on to have a pretty great day.

Wouldn’t fairly compensated be the wage in which two parties agree to? If they pay $1 an hour, nobody will do it. If they pay $100 an hour, everybody will apply for it. There’s a balance point there. Nobody is forcing anybody to take that job. Especially in the time where in now where employees are in high demand. If you want a job that pays enough for good dental coverage, go apply to those jobs instead.

Even with the current slow process, there have been plenty of examples of people being proved innocent after the government killed them. Imagine how much worse it’d be if it was a quick process.

Put a loved one into that situation. They literally didn’t commit a crime. They go through the whole process and they put them to death for a crime that they didn’t commit. A few years later, they come out and say they made a mistake, someone else did it. If they were still alive, at least they could be let free. But they’re dead you can’t take that back. They killed your mother/father/sister/brother/son/daughter because the other side had better lawyers and was trying to get a good conviction rate. That’s fucked. Putting one family through that is not worth killing to guilty people. And it’s already a whole lot more than just one family with the current process.

What would you call forcing people to perform labor? Just because it’s not as bad as it was in the past, doesn’t mean there are still improvements to be made. I totally agree that they should have to pay damages, but doing 200 hours of community service? Or what? They get put in jail? Call it what you want, but it certainly doesn’t sound like not slavery.
