Nice article. Are most of these properties in conditions that ordinary people couldn't afford to fix? It would be ideal to help people buy homes they need and educate about the funding and grants available. While bringing developers and flippers will also help, that potentially leads to people getting priced out.

Interesting point. You think they would set it up so the light is red if you're speeding, but if you're doing the speed limit, it turns green just in time.

It's not so much your mysterious internet buyer, or capitalism specifically. You can blame capitalism for the '08 collapse, from which housing completions never recovered.... but there are also zoning restrictions, labor shortages, and more recently, materials shortages.
