While I didn't bring a monitor, and I haven't done this since last fall, the capital one cafe in carytown is decent. They have good wi-fi, pretty good coffee, and they also have an upstairs where you can work without having to deal with all the foot traffic of people who are walking in just to buy coffee.

Surely not many people can afford that, right? I mean, yes, there are some people who make good money, but you can't tell me someone who's making slightly more than minimum wage can afford a $500 electricity bill in addition to all other expenses?

I mean, we only had about 8 really cold days back go back and everyone's bill went from $75-$100 on average to about $300-400. Now imagine what would happen if we had those same cold days for 27 out of 30 days? That same bill would be $1,200.

Alright those of you who moved from Buffalo, what do people in even colder climates do? I doubt someone in Buffalo just accepts the fact that their electric/power bill is 300-600 November-April?

Do they have different heating systems?

I cancelled my digital subscription when it more than doubled. I have no concerns paying for a digital only subscription, I'd love to support local journalism, but I'm not paying more for RTD than three other subscriptions combined.

If you just want it painted and you don't care too much about the paint job being perfect, and you want it done quickly and get it over with, go with Maaco. I've taken some of my older cars to them while I was restoring them and Maaco did a fine job for $1,200 or whatever was it I paid.

I've also taken some of my past cars to Affordably Body Shop over on Brook Road just past Walmart on Parham and Brook. They did a great job, however, they only ever painted one panel at a time.

On the other hand, I once had a whole car repainted because Honda recalled paint on 2006-2011 Civic, I took it to West Broad Collision Center and they did an excellent job. The paint looked great 9 years after they repainted it.

I don't disagree with that. I have nothing against electric vehicles. I hope to be able to afford one one day.

My point was that people think electric vehicles will be the only vehicles soon, meanwhile they've been predicting that since the first Tesla left the factory doors. Add to that the fact that millions of people will never be able to afford even a used electric vehicle anytime soon.

in ten years, are electric vehicles going to be very popular, most likely selling more than gas vehicles? Definitely.

Are they going to be popular enough that we'll have street chargers for people living in the city? I highly doubt that will happen within the next 10 years.

!remind me in 10 years.

Joking aside, and not that I think I'm right and you're wrong, but people were saying the exact same thing in 2012 and here I am still driving my 1994 accord. I think you're a little too optimistic about the future.

The reason your local bank isn't paying you 3% while Cap One (and Ally, Sofi, Charles Schwab, Discover, and others) increases their rates frequently is because your local bank can do whatever the fuck it wants and no one cares. If your local bank keeps paying 0.25 and no one closes their accounts, why should they now start paying 3%? They're making money paying you 0.25% why lose money (or make less money) by paying you 3%?

Why not if you don't mind me asking?

Not trying to defend them or anything since I am their customer, but they've always been up there along with Ally, Sofi, Discover, Charles Schwab, and a few others when it comes to rates. If they're not the first to raise the rates on savings accounts, they're usually pretty quick to do it after the others start raising their rates.

Lots of smaller grocery stores/convenience stores have them. I'm not going to say which ones because I don't want y'all buying up all the sriracha, but if you have a small, non chain, grocery store near you, they most certainly have sriracha.

Who's got good quesadillas around here?

I've got some family visiting from Europe and they want to try different foods and one of them is quesadillas. So, I'd like to take them someplace that has good quesadillas. What are your recommendations?

there are a ton of shoe repair shops around. How far do you want to drive?

I've personally used Village Shoe Repair over by Patterson and Three Chopt, just past UR. Had them repair soles on several different pairs of boots.

I've also used Best Shoe Repair over on Broad in the same shopping center as Wawa and Harbor Freight. I took an old pair of steel toe boots to repair once back in 2017 or 2018 because they were recommended by my employer at the time.
