There is already enough nuclear missile to destroy the world many times over so if Russia want to create ever more powerful nuke they can try but first they will be saddled with reparation payment to Ukraine, rebuilding their own military, root out endemic corruptions and so on.
Where's the money coming from, eh?

Nobody, at least in my opinion, seems to think that Russia is abiding by any treaties. One has to wonder if their nuclear arsenal is even operational or in any kind of good repair given the state of their army. They could use a few silos to occasionally flaunt their bluster. However, given the expense of maintenance, you have to assume that not all of them are working.

We ( US) spend russias entire defense budget, on maintenance of our nuclear arsenal alone.

I point having treaties with Russia when Russia is looking to not exist by 2026

Not at all, but he will likely be less powerful and receive a country with a collapsed economy, a decimated military, no diplomatic leverage, a huge pile of sanctions, and probably very difficult internal conflicts.
It still sucks that they have nukes (probably even more so, since selling them to rogue states gets quick cash to deal with these problems), but Russia will otherwise pose no threat to anyone but the Russians who didn't make it out if there, at least for a decade.
grogling5231 t1_j6m5lmw wrote
They already did that some decades back. Then I believe canceled the program without ever testing a full-strength version of the warhead. Yield would have been around 100 megatons if it had the U238 in the test bomb's makeup (purposefully omitted for the test). Only one was ever made and the program was abandoned.

What value does a treaty Russia has committed its word it will uphold have?

They seem to be making a concentrated effort to get there sooner than that.

So yeah, we can be sure that many of Russias don't work. There will still be a fuck ton of functioning ones though

Russia doesn’t really follow the agreements anyway which is why the START agreement was pretty much abandoned.

I'm more convinced that they spend the majority of their budget on that , than everyone just stealing it all.
They obviously don't have 6k nukes at the ready, it's just impossible, But unfortunately, they don't need 6k.
