Not that I disagree that this should be done, but what intelligence, and, or due process will you do to ensure you're not fucking up the wrong people?

Don't the Russians have a "Pravda" newspaper too and it's largely understood as ironic since it's almost zero truth? Or am I thinking the Soviets?

Ukraine was worse when Russia was trying to convert it into a puppet state à la Belarus.
The revolution in 2014 and the elections of newly formed parties after then have been digging those claws out.

Sounds like my husband's he thinks Ukraine is hiding some kind of bio terror lab or something crazy he heard conspiracy wise which is why he thought Russia started the whole war. I was like your joking right you don't get it. That's all propaganda and they just want power and land.

I had a lady come here to get something she bought on market place .. she told me how Ukraine was stealing children and locking them in basements. She knew this because she had contacts in the US military .. I shit you not!
Told her to take her delusions elsewhere.

Pravda in Ukraine is real journalism.
Corruption was worst in industries that made actual money.
HappyAmbition706 t1_j6ecuok wrote
Ukraine was pretty bad, but not worse than Russia. After all, they were totally immersed in the USSR and its Russian system of corruption. They've been trying to lift themselves out of that hole after the USSR collapsed and they regained independence. And for a long time with little progress, since the corruption was deep, widespread and permeated the systems of government and power.
But they were trying, and making some progress. That's even one of the reasons Russia invaded. Russia was losing the usual levers of control.
For sure there is still plenty of corrupted people and systems in Ukraine, but they are (mostly) fighting for their lives like everyone else. To use the foreign aid well, to keep it coming, to join the EU as soon as possible, and to rebuild their country as fast as possible are big incentives to fight corruption now and going forward.

when you think of word "Pravda" and how it is used in mdeia, think about the word "times" and how many newspapers uses that word. The use of Pravda is the same in eastern europe. Doesnt mean it (the media) is own or controled by Russia..
Jorge_de_la_jungla t1_j6ggnlj wrote
Seriously, thanks for the explanation, but probably about time they drop the word Pravda and maybe try The Herald, The Examiner, and The Town Crier...LOL. After living through the Cold War, Pravda has an immediate negative connotation and most won't do the research you have done.

What is a Ukrainian sanction, and what weight does that really hold? I’d think he would have to rely on the U.S. or other bigger powers to impose and enforce sanctions for Ukraine.
