> Russian MPs on Thursday voted to extend a law banning all forms of LGBT "Propaganda".

> "Today Russia is pursuing this with even more intensity. Lacking unanimous support for its war in Ukraine, Russian leaders have launched a conservative initiative of 'ideological purification' as it sees the Russian population as being at risk from harmful Western influences."

> "Russia has remained an imperial state, inherited from the Tsars and the Soviet Union. As such it is, by definition, fragmented into regional identities. By putting immense pressure on society through propaganda, Russian authorities seek to construct a united conservative base that will encompass society as a whole."

TLDR: > When it was first introduced in 2013 the law purported to prevent minors from seeing content that framed LGBT relationships in a positive light. Nine years later it has been expanded to include adults, forbidding “the promotion of non-traditional sexual relations” in all media, books, films and online.

Putin wants full fascism in Russia, not just the far-right-pretending-democracy.

Probably more about anti-liberalism. The more they can control the better, even if there are conflicting goals and laws.

Can’t give up any little bit of freedom or show tolerance otherwise it’s a slippery slope to people wanting more.

The elections are actually an intentional mockery of western elections. They're not thinking they're real, they're trying to make fun of us.

I'm not sure how it's supposed to work, but that's the idea anyway. Krout on youtube did a deep dive into three philosophers that Putin is on record as admiring, and one of them espouses this idea.

edit: Here it is. A warning, it's pretty dry.

Firstly it's perfectly possible for someone to be irreligious and hate abortion

Secondly and more pertinent to the article, Russia already leads in the amount of abortion procedures per live births. They not only exceed the CIS average, but the EU average. Actually they just blow out every country in Europe on this matter.

It used to be so much worse at over 2000 procedures per every 1000 live births. It's good that it's dropped down to 350ish per 1000, but that's still higher than every other country.

I'm aware of that. I also believe that the problem of a child being born into an abusive and shit environment is to improve that environment or remove that child and mother from it, not kill the kid

So instead of combating their chronic societal alcohol problem and the 99% of the other problems they have, you'd just throw the unborn to Moloch as acceptable casualties?

You need science in your life and not unfounded wish belief. Your "unborn" are a clump of cells. You can't even force someone to let their body get used by an actual feeling and thinking human to stay alive, but somehow a clump of cells?

Your entire argument is based on being misinformed about how the world works. Perfectly reinforcing the point that only religion makes people so irrational.

The whole "lifestyle choice" has also nothing to do with what women go through that choose to get abortions. So on top of that you also seem massively sexist and ignorant about the thoughts and feelings of those who are different from you.

Volksgemeinschaft

>Volksgemeinschaft (German pronunciation: [ˈfɔlksɡəˌmaɪnʃaft]) is a German expression meaning "people's community", "folk community", "national community", or "racial community", depending on the translation of its component term Volk (cognate with the English word "folk"). This expression originally became popular during World War I as Germans rallied in support of the war, and many experienced "relief that at one fell swoop all social and political divisions could be solved in the great national equation".
