Lula's story is amazing . Was not able to run last election because he was in jail. He was found guilty and imprisoned.

Later found to be the target of a corrupted anti-corruption judge (caught on tape)

Lula's charges expunged.

Bolsonaro's whole family is in office and probably should all be in prison.

Bolsonerism literally a ideology of returning to military rule.

This was an important election because the Lula rhetoric will encourage already tipping left Latin American politics to tip more.

Lmaaao presenting Lula as a mere Justice victim is a complete distortion of the facts. Massive evidence, which was analyzed - and ractified - by all branches of Brazil's judicial system, points Lula as a commander of two main corruption schemes to buy out the Congress. Indeed 'Lava Jato' had some abusive measures against Lula and others but by no means he's innocent

It's the full truth. No secret accounts and/or money laundering schemes were linked to Lula, two must-have for someone being painted as high level politic thief.

Massive evidence? LOL!

My fucking GOD. Just listen to Palloci's testimony.

Despite all the evidence arising since the 'Mensalão', you guys still believe the guy is some kind of a holy saint... Lula was even mocked in his first term for 'not knowing anything, never' LMAOOO

Uh, listen to Greenland greenwald on Lula

Greenland greenwald ? I'm from Brazil, I can actually read the sentences, I can see the trial footage of the minister saying Lula is the head of culorruption schemes. My critique to Lula does not mean I'm a Bolsonaro fan, but our election's reaslt is far from being something to root for

"I'm from Brazil" Just look at the facts. I mean, half of Brazil votes "yes" to a fascist/bigot Balsinaro so does Brazil understand its own problems is a reasonable question.

As a Canadian I would argue most Canadians are in the dark.

In which part did I defend Bolsonaro? My point is clear: massive evidence suggests Lula was chief of two major bribery schemes to buy out he Congress. This doesn't imply Bolsonaro is better. My answer was to dismantle a narrative in which Lula charges were disregarded. No, they were not disregarded. The whole trial and its findings were reverted and got back to another instance.

Imagine that Dahmer, the murderer, was convicted by a court in New Jersey and arrested. After appealing, one court decided he was judged in the wrong Jurisdiction and sent all the proceedings back to another place, I don't know, Washington D.C, for instance. By no means Dahmer is 'innocent'.

Listen. I love you. You're dialed in.

Have a great day and congratulations on your countries swing away from Fascism.

I'll have a look at glenn greenwald on Lula again. It's been a few years and I'm wondering what new evidence has come out.

I think the take away on justice in 2022-23 is there is pressure from elites and fascists to push backnto preserve not only their crimes but the criminals want growth rate in their criminal enterprise

Brazil has taken a turn to the left as former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva beat far-right incumbent Jair Bolsonaro in the presidential election.

After a divisive campaign which saw two bitter rivals on opposite sides of the political spectrum go head to head, Lula won 50.9% of the votes.

It was enough to beat Jair Bolsonaro, whose supporters had been confident of victory.

But the division which this election has highlighted is unlikely to vanish.

It is a stunning comeback for a politician who could not run in the last presidential election in 2018 because he was in jail and banned from standing for office.

He had been found guilty of receiving a bribe from a Brazilian construction firm in return for contracts with Brazil's state oil company Petrobras.
