2.5C is not a destination. Once it warms that much, feedback loops take over and the temps continue to rise. 2.5 = 8.5

Even if there were no feedback loops, 2.5C is more than catastrophic all on its own.

We don't really know when the feedback will trigger right now the likely range to trigger feedback/tippinqg points us 2.5-4 degrees.
So yes could happen at 2.5 but might not.
Additionally, even though this report is negative, if you looked at the predictions from the early 2000s, we are doing better than expected.
We want to be realistic but also not nihilistic. Nihilism is just as dangerous as denialism.
Russia is kinda forcing a lot of countries to become more energy independent, and that will require renewables and nuclear

As I understand, according to the IPCC there's credible evidence that at least 5 of 16 identified feedback mechanisms/tipping points have already been triggered, and things are in fact happening much sooner than expected.
This isn't "nihilism", it's just what the international organisation of scientists studying the problem have actually said in their latest official report. What's dangerous is taking it less seriously than it ought to be.

We’ve already triggered feedback loops and quite frankly need to be carbon negative at this time.

Do you have a source for this to better understand?

"Sources" generally means studies.

We’re not in r/science though, excluding the slight chance that a climate scientist may be in this thread, studies are going to go over pretty much everyone’s heads.
A well sourced documentary will do much better to communicate the science for the average layperson.

Those feedback loops can trigger other detrimental changes, like the balance of gasses in the air. Climate scientists have speculated that the composition of the atmosphere could swing wildly, as it has done in the past. Oxygen, methane, CO2, etc., may climb too high or too low, for example. It's not just 'hot weather' and rising seas that are a concern. These are just possibilities, but it would better not to have options like this on the table at all.
