What are the F16s going to do what the HIMARS, GLSDB and Storm Shadow cant? They already have the capability to hit Mariupol and thats enough.

fly around and kill shit from the sky. But i guess you got a point haha. I just imagine a small fleet of trained pilots will be able to pick off enemies much faster

Most likely. America would put a certain amount of vouchers or loans on the table, and anything Ukraine says they want comes at an opportunity cost of something else that means they cannot have. F-16’s would be an expensive item on the menu and would mean a bunch of other things they then can’t have (and may more desperately need).

Combined arms warfare is just that. Combined. Every sector you can attack from is another area the enemy has to prepare. You've never heard of a modern war that didn't use airpower.

Learning how to do that in a F-16 takes time the AFU just don’t have. Not worth the cost when better and more reliable methods exist and are already guaranteed in the aid packages

Can Ukraine just buy them from General Dynamics Lockheed? Then countries could just donate the cost? Probably not, but I don't at all understand how the purchasing of jet fighters works.

Not without US government approval.
There are many MiGs available across Eastern Europe. Ukrainian pilots already know how to fly these, and Poland knows how to install NATO weapons on them.
MiGs could help Ukraine very soon, while F-16'S might not help this year. Maybe there can be a deal similar to Abraham's tanks, where the US agrees to send a few, so that other countries feel more comfortable sending other fighter jets.

The Ukrainian pilots are still training to fly them. That’s why they are not being sent now. Also, F16s don’t cost 60m. Try half that, or even less for used ones.

Also, I’m sure there is a jet fuel problem. Ukraine gets jets that they may or may not be able to utilize in the long run. 🤷🏼♂️

I think it's about being cost effective. Artillery and long range missiles will be much more useful. Politics may play a part aswell, as it is easier get a bill passed through congress that don't include 60 million dollar jets.
