well the amtrak from dc to 30th st station is 2 hours. the subway goes straight to the stadiums (you take the market frankford line to 15th st, switch to Broad St line and ride south to the last stop). depending on if there’s an amtrak train scheduled that will arrive and leave philly at a reasonable time, you could do the whole trip in one day and it won’t empty your savings. it’ll be a long day though.

edit to add: once you reach philly you could even just uber to the stadiums, but traffic is ugly in the few blocks surrounding the complex

Bad idea going to the Linc as a opposing fan.

I thought about going but A) it’s pretty expensive and B) Philly fans. Going to a place like that as a Niners fan, especially if we win, would be a death sentence. Just gonna watch it from the comfort of a neutral bar or my place.

But to answer your question; the train is pretty easy and you won’t worry about parking.

Once the game is over, it could take you an hour just to get back to the subway station at the stadiums and another hr to get to 30th st. You’d be better off getting a hotel room nearby.

Sounds like you are thinking of a solo trip. Do not do that. Eagles fans are the worst, especially if the eagles lose and you are by yourself.

They have holding cells and a courtroom under the stadium because their fans get violent towards people like you. Careful

Philly is a fun town - except - Philly fans can be rough on fans of opposing teams, and I imagine their animosity/exuberance will only be heightened because of the stakes of this game. I'm talking battery throwing, vomiting on children, booing Santa. So, be prepared to keep your fandom quiet.

I went this past weekend, the NE regional is easy and gets you there in 2 hours. I think there's always a late NE regional (like 11:30) out of 30th street to DC on Sunday nights.

As far as being an opposing fan, you should be fine as long as you're not a dickhead. You'll get booed at and jeered but you're not going to be in physical danger.

I’m a Philly fan and really the Eagles fanbase is the most like the stereotypical obnoxious Philly fan moniker. That being said you might be made fun of, harassed, etc, but you won’t be physically attacked at all unless you provoke it. Nobody vomits on random children (purposely), nobody throws batteries (anymore) and nobody boos Santa (unless he’s drunk and embarrassing himself). Nobody will randomly punch you and if they would I think most eagles fans nearby would actually have your back because nobody in Philly likes a cheap shot.

lol, as soon as he wrote that I knew someone would bring that up. As another Philly fan, we like to say he's from Jersey and a degen. In a playoff/busier atmosphere I like to think he'd have been shoved and pushed out of there by other Eagles fans because what he did was pretty f'ing heinous. I don't know why the stadium staff didn't kick him out with his friend (prior to his forced vomiting) who must have been doing equally pathetic crap - usually the group or pair is punished in that situation. I'd definitely been yelling at him to get the hell out if he was cursing a bunch of vile stuff at a young girl.

I've only been to one game at the Linc - my brothers; however, went to the NFC Championship game in '04. IIRC correctly, the worst they saw was a trash can be put on top of someone's head. I think over the years it's become more tame as the old 700 level hooligans from Veterans Stadium started to disappear.

Hello! I too am a Niners fan (engaged to an Eagles fan, pray for my household lol), so I’ve been to a few games in Philly. Wasn’t really harassed at a regular season game while wearing a Niners jersey; only one dude made a snarky comment but I just ignored him. This is the NFC championship though, so people might be more feisty. I would just suggest staying calm and not engaging if someone makes a comment.

I’ve done the drive there and back the same day and regretted it; I much prefer staying the night at a hotel either before or after (might feel differently taking the train instead of having to drive though). Traffic was AWFUL leading up to the game last time we went. We intended to get there a couple hours early and ended up making it right on time. If you do end up driving, leave tons of time to get close to the stadium and park. There were lots of other Niner fans at the game I went to, so you could maybe even find some new friends to tailgate with if you get there early. Tbh the train sounds like a good option though to avoid dealing with the traffic!

Get a room, but not right by the stadium.

Do NOT wear your Niners gear unless you are ok with getting harassed.

Do NOT try to defend your team in the stadium, or do anything over-the-top if they score/get an interception; etc.

You would take Amtrak to 30th street and then the Broad Street line to Broad and Pattison. The train will be packed, and you get out about a city block away from the stadium.

There is also a Villanova/Providence game going on at the Wells Fargo Center, so folks are buying tickets to start tailgating early.

Don’t go to Xfinity Live unless you are super into frat bros. The casino is also sketchy. Do you have friends you can tailgate with? People tend to have preferred spots where they always tailgate. I would take an Uber to the hotel; I wouldn’t trust Septa if I could help it.

If you drive up, I’d suggest the NovaCare lot, which is the Eagles training facility. That gives you a bit of distance from the heaviest tailgates while still being close to the stadium.

Do NOT wear Niners gear on the train. Do NOT let the hotel know you are a Niners fan. Do NOT let ANYONE know you are a Niners fan. There’s been a rise in college folks just going to tailgate (compared to season ticket holders). You would find them closer to Xfinity Live.

Agreed the only ones causing trouble these days are drunk teens. The NFL really made the stadium police crack down on "violence" you can say "F*"k the niners" but anything directed at an individual can get you tossed. As long as you aren't the aggressor nothing will happen.

Worked there during the last Philly Superbowl run and in Philly for 2+ years. Like others are saying go up the night before just in case. Take the train to the stadium they have direct ones from city center, don't Uber. The NFL cracked down on fan altercations so the only ones causing problems are drunk teens. Was there for the majority of the tailgating and games. Only real problems were Dallas games, just drunk teens fighting other drunk teens. Some was even eagles on eagles.

Down town the night before run around Walnut or south street a little. Moriarty's is always a fun place.

I definitely want to echo this. Went to a philly-niners game years ago and we kept our gear/support to non-existance. They are exceptionally passionate, which is a big ol euphemism.
