I’ll be in Washington DC late December, I’d love to go to a ski resort. It’s going to be my first time, so I need one suitable for beginners. I want something I can drive or Uber, spend few hours there and return. Thank you for any suggestions.

They can see your route ahead of time, no way anyone accepts that pickup. I cant even get Ubers to get me around in the city anymore.

I just don’t think you’d get an Uber driver to take you that far, and TBH the skiing there wouldn’t be worth the trip cost for just a quick jaunt, especially as a first timer.

Check out Bryce Resort. It's super small but also cheap and fine for beginners. Not sure about any ubers but an easy drive down 66 and 81.
Even if you get an uber out there it's going to be near impossible to get one on the way back. I don't think any ski resorts would be in ubering distance. You're best bet would to rent a carshare for the day. Probably cheaper than ubers too
Liberty and Whitetail are the two closest by far. It would be somewhat pricey to Uber/Lyft to Liberty, the closer of the two. I just checked prices from Shady Grove (end of the Red Line) and Frederick (an end of the MARC Brunswick Line) and the prices were about $50-60 one way.
What carshare company should I check? I’m not familiar with that.
There's some snow making weather in the next few weeks for the resorts 1.5hours away in Pennsylvania (whitetail, liberty, and round top). The conditions are likely not great with only a few runs open.
If you can drive 3hours each way, the west Virginia resorts like timberline will be much better
Check the Turo app. Cheaper than rental car companies.
They all have bunny slopes and lessons. Whitetail, Liberty, and Roundtop are the closest. Timberline and Snowshoe have better snow but aren’t exactly day trips. Go to the closest or wherever your friends are going to ski.
Don’t plan on Ubering. You won’t get a ride back.

Timberline has the longest green route in the east coast I believe.
They all drive for uber eats & door dash now. Its safer, as far as covid & no more complaining passengers

Whitetail is closest but often icy. Liberty is good, but I think roundtop is more beginner friendly.

Given the snow and dirt that comes from ski gear I would be very surprised if you find a ride back home let alone one out there on a Uber
