District Cleanups will be having a community cleanup at Kingman Park this Saturday!

Meet at the intersection of A and 19th St NE at noon! We'll pick up trash for an hour or two then find somewhere to do a happy hour.

Don't need anything but yourselves! We'll supply gloves, grabbers, and bags. See you there!

The Washington Metropolitan Gamer Symphony Orchestra (WMGSO) will perform their full ensemble concert “Songs of the Lifestream” at the Prince George’s Community College Center for Performing Arts in Largo, Md. on Saturday, November 19th at 7:30 p.m. Eastern. We’ll be featuring music primarily from Final Fantasy 7 alongside a few more VGM tunes :)

WMGSO is pleased to feature special guest Doug Perry on one of our pieces this season. He is an internationally-renowned percussionist, composer, and educator who frequently records and produces music for video games and film. Doug holds degrees from the University of Kansas, the Peabody Institute of The Johns Hopkins University, as well as an artist diploma from the Yale School of Music where he was awarded the Horatio Parker Memorial Prize.

WMGSO is also pleased to feature a pre-concert lecture by Prof. Richard Anatone: “The Musical Lifestream: Thematic Connections as Storytelling in the Soundtrack to Final Fantasy VII,” which will start at 6:30 pm at the venue. Prof. Anatone is a pianist, composer, and currently serves as a music theory professor at Prince George’s Community College in Largo, MD. His research interests reside in leitmotifs and semiotics in video game music, and he recently published a collection of essays dedicated to the music of Nobuo Uematsu in the Final Fantasy series.
