Take the red line to Tenleytown, and walk south to pick up Archbold Glover Park trailhead on Van Ness St NW. You can take that trail all the way to the Potomac in Georgetown!

Kingman Island is near Stadium Armory and is often quiet - just go off trail.
In case itโ€™s helpful, Glenwood cemetery has a place to scatter ashes.

Rock Creek Cemetery, near Fort Totten and Georgia Ave Petworth. About a mile walk each way but there's parking.

If it's a nice day, yeah. Depends on what you define as "nice" and "crowded," of course.

So sorry for your loss.

You might like Constitution Gardens. About a 20 minute walk from Farragut North metro. A quiet green spot with a pond and views of the Washington Monument.
