Of all the metro stops I frequent Gallery Place has the most rats by far. On the red line platform I always see them scurrying around/on the benches because of all the trash people leave behind. Not only are they large but those plague ridden fucks are unbelievably brave and have no fear approaching you if there's food to be found. I don't won't them all killed. I just wish they would live their lives elsewhere. /End rant.

Happy Thanksgiving /r/Washington DC 🤙🏻

LOL - you won’t complain about the DC subway rats once you see the New York and Philadelphia subway rats.

I don’t usually see rats, but there are always tons of mice scurrying around the platforms and beneath the tracks.

Rats are the least of the problems at Gallery Place.

Everyone making fun of this post doesn’t realize that the stance “rodents scurrying by you is part of the charm” isn’t a winning way to increase public transportation use.

Agree! I have pet rats and they try so hard to take as much food as they can to their little eating areas. Evolution did them dirty by not giving them cheek pouches like hamsters.

I don’t know what you expect. This is a major transfer station and folk need to get to where they need to go.

Yes, the red line gallery place rats are brave. I've seen them run directly under people sitting on the stone benches, they are oblivious because they are looking at their phones.

Pre covid, that was a big spot for food trucks serving tourists. The overflowing trash cans of half eaten food supported a literal fuck ton of rats. They came out at night...mostly.

They want to be hamsters... but have no cheek pouches. They want to be squirrels, but have no sense of balance. They want to be moles, but they're not very good at building tunnels that don't collapse.

It's the price of bring a generalist, I guess.

You could just drop rat poison in gallery place and they should be gone soon
