Is there a way to report a driver who threw something out of their car at my car and dented my car? They also called me a “stupid effin B” because I put my blinker on and got in front of them in traffic. I had a hit and run incident happen to me in august where the cops did nothing.

Why of course you should contact the nearest street vendor who will get right on it…

You can potentially report it, but without a video they definitely won't do anything about it. Also, if you do have a video, they probably won't do anything about it.

Yeah learn to get plates. It's not so hard if you practice a little. If you notice a car, try to take their number. You'll learn the state patterns, which also helps.

When I was moving into my first condo, my home inspector got sideswiped on the street. He was freaking out and I had to tell him like three times, "I saw the plate." He finally calmed down, realized what I was saying, and after he called 911, they'd found the driver less than 30 minutes later.

Then he inspected the shit out of that condo!

You can probably report it, but that’s minutes of your life you won’t get back. Nothing will happen.

File a report. Make sure to provide a description of the driver.

Plates can be useful but I'll be honest with you: people who are willing to behave like that aren't likely to actually register their vehicles. Still, it's worth a try! At the very least you'll have a report for your insurance, even if the offense goes nowhere.

It's not uncommon for people to shrug off the offense but simply request a report for their insurance.

I'm sorry someone was a dickhead to you.

People here keep saying the cops do nothing, but your comment is proof that it doesn't have to be that way, and didn't used to be that way. The difference between now and then is a full-scale assault by ACAB politicians on the city's justice system.

It doesn't matter that it wasn't your point, the fact is you called 911, got an effective response, and a criminal was caught. That was possible in 2015, is no longer possible, and ought to be made possible again.
