I realize this is completely relative and anecdotal, but has anyone in the area noticed an increase in missing delivery issues with Seamless drivers? Over the past few months, I have noticed that when I order food on Seamless, there is about a 60% chance it will show up. When it doesn’t, it is usually the case that the app first notifies me that the driver picks up my order, I track him/her until they arrive to my place, it’s marked as delivered, and then it’s always missing - no sign whatsoever. In these experiences, the driver goes completely MIA and I can’t reach them. It seems obvious to me the drivers are stealing my food.

The problem is isolated to Seamless in my experience, but I’m sure it’s common across apps.

Recently, this happened to me twice in the same night - one with my original order and again with the replacement. Customer service is universally unhelpful in trying to contact the driver or doing anything beyond a refund. Is this happening to anyone else?

By the way, Antwan who stole my pizza can get bent.

It wasn't Seamless, but this happened to me with either GrubHub or Postmates one time. The app said the food had been delivered, but it was nowhere to be seen. They re-sent the order which did arrive, but the delay was annoying. Do they ban drivers who do this? Between the ridiculous fees and the apparent shortage of drivers that makes every delivery take an hour or more even if it's from a restaurant that's nearby, I try to avoid that shit as much as possible. If a restaurant also does their own delivery, I'll choose that 100% of the time because it's always faster and less expensive.

I mainly use grubhub and doordash, and it’s becoming a toss up if the food will actually arrive.

It started getting bad maybe 2-3 months ago. My food has been stolen nearly as many times as it’s been delivered— as in, the driver goes MIA and it’s marked delivered with a verrry close up picture of the bag (clearly in the driver’s car as they drive away). Or I’ve called the restaurant and they’ll say it was picked up 45 min ago, etc.

It’s pretty bad now. I’ve basically stopped ordering delivery unless it’s actually through the restaurant (has saved me a lot of money).

Thanks for sharing. I spent some time with customer service chat afterwards and it sounds like they have a policy of not contacting the driver following delivery - seemingly no consequences for drivers who take off with food orders. Totally agreed on restaurant delivery, this most recent experience was out of desperation as most restaurants were closing. Lesson learned…

This exact thing happened with Uber Eats last week and customer service refused to reimburse me for the order because the system said it was delivered. I had to argue for about 45 mins to demand they provide me the photo evidence they always require or a place to send my door cam footage to prove no one came. It took multiple refund refusals to wear the CS person down to finally refund the order. I was shocked they were just going to keep my $75.

Then, to add insult to injury, I was still auto charged the next day for a tip to the driver who stole my food. I assumed they would have cancelled that too 🤦🏻‍♂️
