100%! Also, one ever considers that you can multi-task during a train ride then when you drive.
It's hard to tell if you're asking a real question or just venting, but it's almost certainly cheaper to park at a metro station and take the train. It's like $5 a day to park and you'll pay around $8 round trip for the train. Parking at a garage downtown is going to cost you $20 or so. Plus gas, etc.
Work in downtown and rarely see a full day reach 20. Is it much cheaper? No it’s 11-15, so if you value your time similarly to gas it comes out to the same.
What’s your question?
I drive 8 miles to the train, park for $5.20, and take the train in and back for a round trip of $10.10.
Parking in my building is $22/day, with the extra bonus of the demolition derby that is D.C. traffic.
So... maybe? Probably not.
Google says GSA says cost per mile for a private car is $0.625 (yes, half a penny). Assuming you have about 19 miles from upper moco (8 miles from the red line) to downtown, both directions, that’s another $23.75 so $45.75 in total cost vs $15.30 is the better comparison.
No, it is 62.5 cents per mile, not half a penny.
I take the bus to the metro. Does your company offer Metro benefits?
Buy a monthly pass with unlimited rides within your selected fare price + unlimited bus fare instead of paying the daily fare price.
Walk or bus to the metro to save a few bucks. Maybe your company will subsidize transit or at least allow you to make tax deferred withdrawals from your paycheck for transit. Otherwise yes, that's what it costs. And I bet it's still cheaper than a garage.
Buy the unlimited monthly pass and you can save about 20% or so vs paying manually.

I bet if you actually calculated the cost of driving correctly, it would be more expensive than the metro.
