Who would even think of taking a kid with a cold to the hospital unless they were nearly dead when all you hear about is overflowing emergency rooms filled with sick people? I’d be extremely afraid to take anyone there let alone a kid.

I understand your perspective but I promise you that some parents take their kids to the hospital for literally anything. I myself have received a few ibuprofen-and-rest prescriptions. I just don't see hospitals being busy during cold and flu season as something to be panicking about.
