Large construction sign across from the McDonalds/Surfside on Wisconsin Ave reads “Wisconsin Ave to close 11/5.” Dug around online to find more info but came up empty handed. Does anyone have and further details? Like….where exactly, and for how long?

The final Open Streets of the year will take place on Ward 3’s Wisconsin Avenue, where one mile will be closed to cars and open to people to bike, walk, scoot, and play in a reimagining of public space. Explore all the amenities that Friendship Heights and Tenleytown have to offer and be sure to participate in a fitness or yoga class in one of our activation zones at no cost!
Popular programming will return this fall, including arts and crafts, live music, safety demonstrations, and more. The event is free and suitable for people of ALL ages and abilities.

I think this is also happening! But it looks like the Open Streets event may be the culprit.
Ahhhhhhhhhh this must be it. How do we as a city feel about these event? Boo to inconvenience of transport of those who don’t have the day off and emergency services and yay for family street time?

Ambulances can get down these streets just fine. People just move out of the way...
its a great program, the only people who dont like it are car brains who cant imagine any stretch of road being used for anything but them getting to starbucks faster
boo to you, there are so many other ways to get around and emergency services are able to get thru fine, maybe dont judge something you havent experienced?
i like them! fun activities, great way to meet some neighbors, and makes it easier to check out local businesses. cars can be so loud so it’s also nice to not have that constant noise. i wish we had more car free streets in dc (cough M street in Georgetown cough cough)
A lot of residents love the open streets events! It’s a great time to enjoy local businesses and build community.
I was asking for input on how people who lived in the city felt about it since I’m new here and was throwing out hypothetical pros and cons. I was looking forward to seeing it. I’m sorry.

definitely not how your comment reads, i have personally volunteered at many of these it moves thru the various wards and is a really good time for locals to see local services and organizations
The Georgia Avenue one last month was three miles.
Traffic is always blocked here for EVERYTHING! Festivals, marathons, etc, etc. Sign up for DC Alerts - they’ll tell you about road closures all day and night 😀

Is this it? Just a guess that it might be a later than expected closing for Purple Line construction.
