Harpers Ferry/Brunswick. Same. It makes for an early morning, but I just listen to podcasts and nod off.

They need to add weekend service to and from Harper’s Ferry, even if it’s just one round trip a day

100%. I wish MARC and VRE would run in a way that supports other stuff besides just going to work.

You got money to run in a way that supports none commuter hours?

A weekend train to Harper's Ferry, for instance, would probably be pretty fuckin popular.

But also, I wish we would stop doing this thing where public transit is always expected to be cost-neutral. Nobody ever asks "Are these roads going to pay for themselves"

It’s not about it being cost-neutral, it’s about where’s the money coming from to justify the service. Workers need to be paid and moneys doesn’t grow on trees. MARC is commuter rail. Not public transit

today in meaningless distinctions.

It’s meaningless to YOU, it’s an important distinction for those in charge of money and operations.

So give MARC more money so that we might have a way to get to Harper's Ferry on weekends. Am I speaking a foreign language or something?

So you got money for MARC lines other than Penn line to run on weekends?

Raise taxes. Or cut spending elsewhere. I bet we could cover the cost of running a train out and back for less than it costs the state of Maryland to own and operate a single police helicopter.

Metra in Chicago is a commuter rail and runs hourly service on many routes on weekends. It’s an easy way for Chicago to bring in tourists from the suburbs on weekends who then spend money in downtown.

I’d argue the money saved from less people using highways (far far more expensive to maintain then rails) would in the long run cost the state and DC less money.

We're a small group. My goal is to eventually meet the hero that drives the yellow Ford Bronco and parks at Brunswick station.

Reminds me of the one my dad drove.
