My favorite breakfast sandwich is Elle’s brisket sandwich in Mt Pleasant. Order ahead online. Too good
[removed]
Bagel sandwich from Call Your Mother, usually bacon, egg, and cheese with honey.
Cracked Eggery - The Animal Tatte - bacon egg and cheese with sourdo or lox avocado sandwich
Black Coffee. Palisades represent
La Tejana in Mt Pleasant or So’s Your Mom in Adams Morgan.
Early Bird burrito
Literally any pastry from Sharbat. I will travel for those scrumptious treats.
Agree with Black Coffee and Le Tejana Also: Saku Saku Flakerie and Yellow Cafe in Georgetown.
not necessarily my fav but another good option, pretzel bakery. their little breakfast sliders are super quick and convenient and tasty.
IMO, also too expensive for what it is. $14 for the sandwich + tax + service fee + tip (if you want to leave one comes close to $18-20 for a sammich.
Stunned “Bagels Etc” wasn’t at the top of this list. Best breakfast sandwich in DC by a country mile.
Elle is good food, but anybody reading this comment should be aware that a sandwich is $18 and coffee another $10.
Heatdaspot on Georgia Ave. https://heatdaspot.com
The Highlands on 14th St. http://highlandsdc.com
cash only so you know it’s good
Love la tejana! They just recently got added to the Michelin guide
Dunkin Donuts
Tony’s h street
White House deli
Just polished off a few breakfast tacos from La Tejana. So good!
Yellow Cafe
Not only is the quality almost unmatched, they have been accurately described as "ruthlessly efficient"
Haven’t been there in a while but the baked joint
GW deli
Just went to Tatte for the first time last month, and now it’s one of my favorites!
Murray and Paul’s without a doubt.
Tony’s Breakfast Place off H street. Best fried chicken around, and only in the am. They switch to chicken wings only later in the day. (Which are also spectacular)
I'm so sad they closed the yellow in Navy Yard. Was my go-to treat.
Ugh I’m sorry. I am obsessed. I’m Palestinian, so when they opened near me I was thrilled.
boulangerie christophe for their pastries
Cracked Eggery or Republic Cantina
I’m not falling for your trap. The answer is home because if you go buy coffee and avocado toast how will you afford to gas up your Ferrari?
This is what I was looking for!
Market Lunch! Gotta time it right for it to be "quick" but it's the best diner-style breakfast in DC
Anyone like Lee’s Sandwiches? Cheap coffee and sandwiches.
I'm an Elle defender but yeah the prices are fucking bananas. I've also gone for the dinner service a few times and each time it was hundreds of dollars and totally unmemorable.
Their guava turnover is A+++ though
Bakers daughter
affectionately known as “tax evasion bagels” at my office
Marty Clark's Uptown Sandwich Shoppe in Bloomingdale x1000000
Im happy you get to enjoy it!
I love a good Tatte breakfast sandwich. Swap out the sourdough for a croissant
La Tejana is not "quick" as you'll wait an hour in line just for them to sell out.
Weekends are definitely crazy yeah. Week days have been quick in my experience.
It was just listed. But not given bib right?
I've never been lucky. I have never eaten there because it's closed or sold out Every. Single. Time. I might try on weekdays, but honestly I'm not inclined to waste more time.

What do you get there? Do they have Ethiopian breakfast or just sandwiches?
Cracked Eggery 100%
Murry and Paul’s 12th St NE. Cash only.
Ohhh I’m visiting DC myself and just went to a baked joint soooo good
What's the best one in NW?
I’m shocked there is a good and fast bagel place in dc. Every bagel place I’ve been takes forever.
My kitchen. Best cinnamon honey oats and hard boiled eggs EVER
Chorizo breakfast burrito from El Piquin
Judy and her crew could make any operation more efficient. 3yrs of living next door to this place gave me such an appreciation for their system. If there wasn’t a line, I was out of there in <3 minutes with an amazing sandwich in hand.
The GW deli has really good stuff usually for pretty cheap tho it gets pretty busy at lunchtime and when the school across the street gets out
Nowhere is remotely competitive on the bagels. I think Call Your Mother has different but pretty good bagel sandwiches. (Not that I'll ever pass up bagels etc if I'm in the area.)
How does bagels etc compare to Bethesda Bagels?
I've only had Bethesda bagels once, but if I recall bagels etc was a bit more doughy and way more flavorful (not the toppings, but the actual bagel dough has a delicious almost nutty flavor)
I always loved a breakfast sandwich from Java House before I moved out to the suburbs
I am pro thunderbird
I've gotten in/out on a weekday before 8:30AM. It is a crap shoot depending on the latest article, IG post came out lol
It's good and I've been getting them when they started as a pop up at Purple but not something I'd wait in line for (and Im a "will wait in line for food" kinda person lol)
>too expensive for what it is
This aint no egg McMuffin with off shelf mass produced products. The sandwich itself is practically a caricature of hipster-small-batch-homemade since everything including the hot sauce is made from scratch. They might as well tell us the hen's name. Queue Portlandia skit
I'm admittedly a Elle stan but i remember back in the day the bfast sandwich was made to order in front and it takes long AF bc they do that French omelet technique and put a TON of butter. Actually it's prob better that they make it BOH so people don't know how much butter goes into a single sandwich.
Best yes expensive and not a quick brand and go.
Bullfrog or Prego Again
Correct. I don't think the new bibs and stars have come out for this year yet.
1030 on Friday morning is my go time. Never a line.
I miss Baguettes & Bagels :(
Buffalo & Bergen at Union Market is great (order online in advance)
Bullfrog Bagels is good too.
Boeymongers for the bacon/egg/cheese on a roll or Bethesda bagels for the nova cream cheese on an everything.
Both! Everything.
Breakfast tacos at Foxtrot (at least the Mt Vernon Square location). They're small and tasty, just right for a quick breakfast.
Call your mother’s bagels aren’t good. Bethesda’s are fine
Au Pair in dupont or Mikko
Call Your Mother is the best for bagels in the city. You can schedule your order on their Tock in advance for next-day delivery so there’s no waking up and waiting an hour. Life-altering revelation.
In NE, I Egg You is great for a greasy Texas Toast breakfast sammy, and they have always have a new weekend special. They put this delightful old bay jalapeño sauce on the side and it’s fantastic. Side loaded potatoes are also a winner.
If you want fried tots, Cracked Eggery is good but their sandwiches are burger style and not quite as good as I Egg You.
That’s all I got. Enjoy.
Bullfrog-that bacon egg and cheese on and everything is my everythkng
Something quick & easy to go cost efficient… Fish king rhode island or Tonys breakfast near H st
Pearl’s Bagels
Came here to also say Tony’s
I never understood the Tony's boner on this sub.
Yeah, it's cheap, but that's like all they have going for them. It's slow as hell and the food is ridiculously plain - a breakfast sandwich is just an egg and Sysco bacon on wonder bread. The pancakes are clearly Krusteaz food service mix and corn syrup "syrup."
If all you want is a cheap bland breakfast you could make the exact same thing cheaper and faster at home.
heat da spot. heat da spot. heat da spot.
That’s true sometimes you don’t feel like makin it at home
When I'm too lazy to make my own bagels Bullfrog is my go-to.
Everything bagel with egg, extra bacon, cheddar cheese and Sriracha mayo is one of if not the best bagel sandwich in DC.
Yellow House.
I've only had both Republic Cantina and La Tejana once each so maybe my opinion is wrong, but I thought Republic was MUCH better.
Sunrise Cafe on 17th and L. No frills, filling, affordable, and quick. Sometimes you just want a commodity omelette and starchy potatoes for <$10.
I go on week days all the time and never have problems.
Exactly my answer
Are there still two Tony's across the street from each other?
Meats and Foods off Florida NW. Everything there is pretty delicious, but the breakfast burrito in particular is fire
what’s so good about them? sounds like some basic ass brekkie burritos you’d find in El Paso
What about bullfrog?
what kind of coffee do u get for $10??
I thought it was shut temporarily? Is it closed down for good?? Sadness
Seconded!
Cracked Eggery is so good
Prego in Eastern Market.
They are giving them on a rolling basis now, afaik
Tony's on Hst NE
Baked Joint. Has anything you need plus great coffee. They can run out of stuff early-ish though.
I like their chocolate, coffee, banana croissant. Sounds like a weird combination but don’t knock it til you try it
Baked joint is easily my favorite! The biscuits are amazing!
Was there about 5-6 weeks ago, and yes.
RIP Yellow Navy Yard
I live near their new place, Ice n Slice. Really good. Need to check out Heat da Spot sometime.
I've had dinner there, will need to check out breakfast sometime!
What time are you going? Go before 10 am on the weekends or any time on the weekday.
El Paso ain't in the DMV AFAIK.
Market Lunch at Eastern Market
basic ass don't mean good
True, which is why I only go out for breakfast when I'm travelling. This shit is too easy and cheap to make at home.
i'm just loling at the lines. minus the convenience you make most of the burritos at home
Pearls, I Egg You, Tatte, Meats and Foods, Astro Doughnuts, Cracked Eggery, Yellow, Roaming Rooster, Pluma
gotta try this place, the hours keep me away. opens at like 9am? bro i gotta be shooting off meaningless emails and pretending to work at that point. this bureaucracy aint going to grind itself forward
what? to each their own but these (specifically from this location, not sure about others) are some of the worst breakfast items ive ever had. they're the size of a pinky finger and each time i have to peel the tortilla off the foil. its been about six months since ive been, and at the time they were coming out of a steamer which i thought was incredibly weird. maybe they've changed since then.

Un je nais se quoi - it’s far from where I live so I only get to go on match days, but their pistachio croissant is the stuff of dreams.
